Perhaps you should re-read the second thread you pasted to me because while trying to prove one thing, you just showed that others are thinking along the exact same lines as me about the new infrastructure playing a part in why this PR/IBL update is taking far longer to propogate than normal.

The only one I see trying to say that Jagger is somehow still ongoing is you in those threads. Caryl even answered in the first thread you pasted about that.

Jagger is over and done with. It was 3 stages and was documented on every seo/sem forum out there. IBL/PR updates are still not algo updates, which Jagger was. BD is also not an algo update per se, but an infrastructure change, tho it has been said the algo has undergone some changes while BD was underway.

Which ones? Are you an active participant in them?
All I kept seeing were newbies posting "PR Updated" when in fact, it was rolling back and forth, never fixing completely.

Take your pick, WMW, WWS, SEOChat, SEG, WMR.

I am always around, generally lurking lately as we are buried in work.

Just came across this on: http://www.seroundtable.com/archives/003418.html

A number of people have being questioning the value of PR - here's one to remember, higher PR means your more likely to get more pages spidered

"higher PR means your more likely to get more pages spidered"

maybe - maybe not. 'Depends on more factors than we know - some that come to mind are the date after a first crawl and the frequency of page updates.

PR 5 is enough for your site to have up to 5 million spidered (and indexed) pages.

For PR 5, Index spidered daily, deepages weekly.

This is a practical test done by me.

PR 6 i think can support tens of millions of pages, with indexed spidered multiple times a day, and deeppages, like 1-2 days.

I guess it makes sense that the more "important" your web page (determined via pagerank for lack of better approaches) that Googlebot would come by more frequently and perhaps go deeper. Some real data points (based on last couple of days) of how frequent Googlebot comes by and spiders a certain page.

    PR7 - www.komar.org - 6 times/day.

    PR6 - www.watching-paint-dry.com - 3 times/day

    PR7 - www.watching-paint-dry.com/v7ndotcom-elursrebmem/ - 5 times/day

BTW, you can see the actual log entries for the various search engines who hit robots.txt on the W-P-D domain on the stats page which has been averaging about 50/day - all sorts of funky stuff shows up there.

Those pages updates once/twice a week ... and I'm not using Sitemaps to help in spidering - both of those are probably factors too. The content on those sites is all hand-generated (not auto-generated/scraped stuff), so certainly not millions of pages there.

Any chance of finding out how often a PR 4 site is visited by Googlebot and how deep??

I just grepp'ed out Googlebot entries from my log files (and checked the IP since people spoof the User-Agent), so pretty easy to find out for your site - I doubt there is a hard-n-fast rule on this, but a general trend probably.
