I liked the headline because it made good use of sales writing principles. I would be interested in the second option; making more money with the skills I have. My skills are pretty solid; I've been published three times and have been writing for clients for a while. But, I am getting tired of trading time for money - I can only write so many articles per hour. I want to get more into writing and distributing my own info products, developing e-courses, etc. to make more passive income.

To answer your question: I'd rather learn how to become a better writer. I'm nineteen years old, I don't need tons of money right now. But, when I'm thirty five, the skills of being a fantastic writer will greatly improve my chances of getting high paying gigs. So, I'd rather learn how to become better than learn how to make money with my current skills. Whatever my current skills are, there are always more to learn.

The thread is interesting, full of differenet views. But as far as the interest factor is concerned it's not catching...

Your thread title grabbed my attention, but when you said "Made you look" you lost my trust and I didn't want to read the rest of your post.

    Not very good marketing.

    LOL.

Well heck. All is lost now.

Oh wait a tick. Maybe that was my intention this whole time.

This has been a fun thread. Keep it going!

BTW, please don't follow me on Twitter. Nothing is going on there. I'm kind of messing around with a couple friends on there, but that's it. I know I'll have to repeat this again for the "I can't read, I just post" crowd.

    :D

    It's not interesting. I agree.

Yet, here you are, a newer DPer, who was caught by the thread. You saw it. You opened it. You posted.

No, I don't like cake (as I'm eating another piece).

    :)

Sit around watching a lot of late-night TV do ya?

Well, I guess someone does. They keep running the ads.

You sound like you've got the right mindset. I'm in my 30s and "write" my own ticket. Becoming a better writer is definitely in your best interest.

Of course, you can do both.

There's no report (I'm going to have to keep saying this I know). I hope that over time threads in this forum can really get down to the nitty gritty of what we all want to accomplish.

    Good luck with your writing!

The time when you don't need tons of money is the best time to stack it up. By the time you actually need the money, you'll probably have to spend it on other things - house, wife, kids.

Set yourself up for financial success while you're young.

Ha! You know what they say about imitation.

What would have made it downright hilarious is if lpstong had posted it.

So catchy that, for a minute, I thought you were about to team with my friend's hubby in the quest to get the owner of iHateYouAll.com (and he doesn't really either) selling that domain to both of you, LOL

At the end we can conclude that, regardless the real message content, reverse psychology and catchy misleading headlnes keep driven the public's attention despite the many decades in the middle since the very time this technique was used in marketing.

Market Junction, what have you done to yourself? Two people get upset that the headline was "misleading" and this uninteresting thread becomes a must view hit!

For the haters, and not to ruin Market Junction's reputation he has earned from this thread :D, he has helped me out so much over the past couple of months. I took his suggestion for headlines a few weeks ago, and since then have gained 5-6 new clients from job boards using his headline suggestions in my resume and email.

He has never asked for any compensation, nor has he ever sent me to an affiliate link. I could divulge more, but this is not my battle. So, whatever is going on here, I am sure it is well calculated on his part. Market Junction has made me a lot of money, and this is the first time I have ever told him.

BTW, the only reason I read this thread is because I saw he started it. Go back and look at some of his other threads- a true wealth of information

    Wow, that's great!

I can't believe something I said actually helped anyone or even worked. ;)

Okay, time to clean up all the empty wine bottles and try to make something of my life. :D
