Sh*t we all already know: Links are good Relevant links are better Include keywords in link anchor text Use your titles and hx tags effectively Write quality, keyword rich content on a regular basis Post on blogs/forums Use social networking 301 redirect old content to new Iwebtool PR prediction is unreliable etc So why the hell is every post on here about the same old crap? Has no one had any decent new ideas recently? We need some new innovations.
How could you say that this forum is stale? Of course many of the members are new here that's why they are trying to explain and ask something....
Hey Guys, I do understand what he is saying, yes we have lot of new members who want to learn and that's OK but I too am fed up of posts like "THE ONLY WAY to get to #1" which ends up as someone saying they have ranked 31st for a non competitive term and got 50 uniques in a week and then telling us all that you need content and backlinks. This is what sticky thread and books/ebooks are for, learning the basics. We should be here for specific questions and situations not just "optimize my site please". If someone has a new backlink strategy or proactive idea, I would love to hear it but I'm afraid i'm with Synchronium in saying enough is enough of "SEO basic threads"
Ok, idea: Buy an expired domain with backlinks and a reasonable PR. Don't just set up 1 link to your site, or just 301 redirect. Instead, find some wikipedia articles that relate to your main site, go grab an old, unindexed copy from 2005 or so via the history pages, then jumble them around, link them to each other and then link to you from every page, so you have around 5-10 "original content" high PR pages, all with relevant (since you stole a load of relevant copy) links back to you with anchor text of your chosing. Does it work? No idea, I don't have the resources to test it. But at least it's an idea.
I have to say, agree with Synchronium. The reason i havn't spent as much time as i would like on here is because there generally isnt anything new.
To get my point across a bit better, here's a sample of topics on the first page: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=515593 http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=366495 http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=513528 http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=515877 http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=515588 http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=515958 http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=516502 http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=515870 http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=516305 http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=514684 http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=513307 http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=208208 http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=514796 http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=511590 http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=515559 http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=444231 Hardly stimulating SEO related discussion. (Oh, and negative rep for expressing an opinion? Sweet.)
Sadly, many people still fail to implement the sh*t As for those answers, they are the most basic ones and are common to most problems. Not every case is the same- if it were, then search engine optimization as a field itself would not exist. People just give the bare details about their site ( you can't give information when you simply say " the keyword is moderately difficult". And when they do give their site details, Not many people are willing to dig deeper and give more 'sharp' advice, because it takes a bit of their time, and in a way, is equivalent to consulting for which they aren't getting paid.
i do agree with you up to some extent! but seo is not all about link exchange! so here are a few things for you that you have not heard about! For any search engines, stability is important! google's algo deponds on many factors apart from the links! 1) domain age! 2) domain renual time, the more the better, so get your domains booked for 10 years, and see the difference in your rankings! 3) .gov and .edu links, these are important!! 4) links from educational institutes, reputed links from government sites, etc!! 5) make a wordpress theme download section, that will help hugely! 6) try link bait! it always helps! there are virtually unlimited ways of seo that people don't even now! try researching and you will find those methods, and then you won't say the same things pops up everytime!
Well, that was an innovative thread on your part. But seriously, most of the users are new and don't necessarily know these things. But some are just dumb questions to run up post counts
You're right. The majority of the topics here are old news and only useful for newbs. Many of the discussions have been covered ad nauseam already. Its been that way for a couple years now - in fact this thread's discussion about it has already been covered before. But i don't really see a solution to it. Developments in SEO arent happening everyday - there arent major revelations and discoveries everyday. So, we all have to drudge through the newb stuff to find those rare golden nuggets of innovative ideas.
Ijust think it's sad that topics like these get fewer responses than "FREE REPORT ABOUT HOW I GOT 2500$ IN ONE WEEK" discussions.
This forum is not stale at all. There are so many people who can give you ideas, and knowledge about business, apart from just link building and SEO. You need devote some time actually before reviewing something like DP EDIT: See you yourself throwed an idea ^^ too.
Maybe there should be a newbie section for those types of questions to be asked and also add a "think tank" section for people to share more advanced ideas and techniques. I agree, for these basic repetitive questions to be asked can be annoying when I am trying to look for or share new and fresh ideas....Just a thought.
I was talking about the SEO forum in particular. No doubt the rest of DP has a lot to offer. Someone may as well monitise this stale air by writing an ebook that covers everything in those crappy threads, then just link to it in every post. Makes a change from everyone saying "build backlinks" purely for singature exposure.
I think "Synchronium" is right, there seems to be a lot of repeat content going about. I guess people have not found the search bar yet.
Nobody cares about this, you really think that here there are members that would publish innovative ideas just for the sake of anyone else find this and become their competitor? Be serious.
No, I expect to come onto a forum to discuss and share ideas with like minded individuals, not copy & paste "Backlinks are important" a thousand times for the sake of whoring out my signature. If we don't start promoting this type of discussion, this place will become nothing but a massive advert.
