There will be a winner of this competition on DP. the competition will not be cancelled for ANY reason and a winner will be announced and PAID - even if I don’t get what I’m after.

THE CONTEST

format: gif, PSD and jpg
animation: none-permitted.

Design the front page for a SEMINAR business on happiness. The design needs to have some formality because our program is based on scientific research. However, the design needs to have a feminine element that will attract women, as most of our customers are female. So the design needs to be both formal and playful at the same time. The look should be bright and cheerful.
I have very roughly designed the front page myself. I would like to have it professionally designed.

Please keep these features of my design:

1) Use the same photos: they are just placeholders for now. Later I will get final photos.
You can change the size of the photos. Just resize as you want.

2) Use the same Joygenic icon (the ball). Do not change the size.
If you want a color scheme that is different than the icon, I can later change the icon color to match your scheme, if necessary.
You can change the font for the name Joygenic if you want to make it consistent with the font you have used in the rest of the page.You can also
change its color.

You can also change the font, and color of the text THE HAPPINESS INSTITUTE if you want. It should be a bolder color than it is now.

3) Use the same 11 row design in roughly the same size.

4) Use the same words.

But everything else can be changed.

Key things for you to work on:

1. Color scheme
I have really no color scheme at all. I have used many colors and this needs to be changed. Whatever colors you use all the words need to be sharply visible. An example of words that are not sharply visible is the name THE HAPPINESS INSTITUTE. It would need a more vivid color to make it stand out.


2. Page borders and backgrounds - colors and shapes of
a) sides (colums A and E) and bottom of the page (row 11)
-you can have a thick border or a line border or no border

b) the borders and backgrounds of the 5 boxes in rows 4-7
I have used boxes, but if you want to use elipses or circles or another design feel free to do that.
Note that I have put the headings at the top of the boxes in row 4 and at the bottom in row 7. You can change that if you want.
I have used thick borders with strong colors and white text. You can make the borders thick or a mere line or no border at all.

c) some of the borders have rounded edges; some are square. You can do them any way you want.

3. text:
a) colors
b) size: you can choose whaqtever size you want for all the text
c) case (capitalization)
d) font: they can be any font. The existing fonts ar Trebuchet MS
e) bold


4. Text links
There are two sets of text links, the Seminar titles under Vancouver in row 5 and the New at Joygenic in row 10.
The links should be designated by lines and you need to put them in and choose the color.

5. Newsletter box
Feel free to completely re-design that. I did a poor job of it.

6. Facebook, Twitter and newsletter icons
You can use any size or style you want.

Hi. Can I have the freedom to completely redesign everything (except the logo)? Who knows if you'll like it.

 

There is a certain logic to the design as is. For example: the top "Grow Happier Now" message needs to be the first thing seen on the page, and the 4 Steps box second, and the Seminars box (which is double-wide because it has the list of seminars) next.

But if you can keep that logic in mind then go for whatever you think is best.

Hi thanks for the try, but no the design is not worth continuing.
The color format does not appeal and it lacks the key message Grow Happier Now, which I specifically mentioned in my reply above.
Best to stay close to the design specs.

Overall the design is good. Simple color scheme. Clear text.

My comments:
1) Your "Grow Happier" box is so tall that it will push other content down below the "fold". I think that box needs to be vertically shorter. Not sure that box needs a photo, but your photo not too relevant to that content.
2) in the 4 STEPS box, step 1 is on three lines and harder to read. I think two lines max is best. I like the photo of the woman stepping in my original better than the photo with the flower you have used.
3) You have used the same gold color for the top name THE HAPPINESS INSTITUTE as in the original, and the specs say that is too light. I suggest a more vivid color, maybe even black.
4) My original text omitted the "S" for 4 STEPS both in the "4 STEPS" box and in the nav bar link at the top. I've corrected that in the text specs.

I encourage more submissions with new:
a) color schemes,
b) border designs
c) photos
d) or even alternatives to the "box" system such as using circles or ellipses in place of the boxes.

Good Effort. The design is clean and bright.
I see that you showed how the color changes where there is a mouse-over. Thanks.

You added testimonials, which at present are not required. You also added an icon in the Grow Happier box which is not part of the specs. Same with the happy faces.

The problem I have with your design is the color scheme. The purples give it a "cool" emotional feel. I am seeking something warmer, more heartfelt. Happiness is a warm feeling, I need the colors to give a sense of that. As I said in the specs, the color scheme need not follow the colors of the logo icon because that can be changed.
