Wordpress CMS + vBulletin integration

I am creating a wordpress cms style site that will have a section to show 'recent posts' in the vbulletin forum.

I have seen this done with phpbb but have not seen any wordpress sites that show 'recent posts' for vbulletin.

There are plugins on vbulletin that are 'wordpress links'. But what does this actually mean?

I am not an expert, but is n't it just creating a block on WordPress home page that includes RSS feed of latest 10 posts from vBulletin ?

Are you talking about this WordPress + vBulletin component ?

    yes, you're right on that.

No bridge/integration is really needed since Wordpress doesnt really need a login anyway, except for writers. I wouldnt even WANT to bridge the two, since it always causes complications down the road. Run one clean copy of WP, one clean copy of vB and use them individually. Display your latest posts with RSS.

That's right Mark. I came to the same conclusion after so much of thought process and investigation on all possible bridges.

Run WordPress as home page, forum in sub-folder, no integration. Just give appropriate links to forum from WordPress home page.

Whoever registers will register in forum and become members. We can give limited access to WordPress page only to the users who will really contribute (may be the 'admin' team).

I felt this approach avoids so many complications of using bridges...

Great this looks like the solution I was looking for. Thanks.

I did not really want the two to be linked in terms of login, only to display the recent posts. I had already installed vbulletin in a sub folder so this shouldn't be too hard for me.

I did the same and now trying to find out a very good WordPress theme to be installed as home page.

After installing the WordPress, may be we can get help from experts here to create the block with latest threads of forum.

By the way, what's your site for ? Mine is a technical site.

I have a Poker forum for my local area so they can discuss games that are available etc.

I want to have a wordpress site so I can have greater flexibility to display content and looks more appealing to visitors. Obviously the forum is the core of the site so would like to display recent posts, so visitors will visit the forum.

Are you looking for a magazine style theme that is more suited to CMS? I am considering downloading the WP Magazine theme by Gabfire which is free and one of my favourite free ones. Or whether to pay for one of the Revolution themes

Google search stoxpoker videos. That looks like it has some integration that is linked together well between the forum and the main site.
