I have a forum that is not nearly as busy as this one (www.dance-forums.com), but I have a few threads each week that reach over 10,000 page views. At first glance, I don't see these kind of numbers here. Are there any stats of threads with the most page views?
ie... http://forums.digitalpoint.com/forumdisplay.php?f=19&sort=views Bah!!!! What's the 'Will Nintendo ever get laid?' thread doing there!!!!
Cool, I'm doing better than DP! http://www.dance-forums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=17&daysprune=-1&order=desc&sort=views
Your stats are crummy compaired to DP... You: Threads: 11,490, Posts: 250,308, Members: 5,742, Active Members: 532 Currently Active Users: 51 (16 members and 35 guests) DigitalPoint: Threads: 51,969, Posts: 594,356, Members: 17,166, Active Members: 7,769 Currently Active Users: 236 (87 members and 149 guests) Robot pageviews are worthless unless they generate members!! You're lucky to have about 10% of your members active, while DP has almost a 50% active rate, and 1/5th of your posts come from three members!!!!
i have more active members than you and higher average users online and i'm newer as well BWAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAA!!!!!
That may be the case, but how much of your traffic are from bots? When your site is as big - and has an active userbase like DP, then talk. xD
Nintendo sorted the General Chat threads but the webmaster threads have a lot more views. For example: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=256
This one http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=53712 has almost 6000 page views after just 5 days. I would bet that it hits the 10K mark in a couple more days, as it's being viewed by alot of folks across the Internet interested in possible changes brought about the thread.
great post Ninny. I would like to point out the IMPORTANT stat from that (just to help) You only have 9% of your members active..you need to figure out why you are scaring them away or not retaining them. If that figure was as high as DP's 45% you would be making a lot more $$$ NB:I guessed those % figures, bite me!
