The real value of Google PR is in getting your site crawled deeper. The higher the PR, the deeper the crawl. YMMV.
Not too sure about that statement. My blog has a google sitemap and PR3 and get's crawled about every 3-4 days. Maybe the rule applies differently to websites vs. blogs.
Well being that my PR0 site accounts for 80% of my revenue, I would say PR means very little. Visitors and traffic are the most important measures.

Being a little more empathetic to the way google thinks, it is there way of telling you a little about the quality of the site you are viewing. For this reason, they had to start adding factors that help assess the trust factor of a site. Doing too much to manipulate the pagerank can result in a loss in pagerank or worse. Building quality content and attracting repeat visitors can help increase trust and rank.
Pagerank is meaning about amount of incoming link, some meaning quality but Pagerank is not related/reflected directly with site ranking in Google or any search engines. You'll see site with PR4 or PR5 can outrank sites with PR6 ot PR7 sometimes, depend on sites niche and quality on each backlinks for that site.
getting crawled often is dependent on how often your content changes and the quality of your inlinks (those influence your pagerank, but pagerank isn't a measure of the quality of your inlinks).
Im into PR. This is what i read about all over the Internet. But im supprised that a pr3 sites receives a lot of visits and make $x,xxx. Then you have a pr7 site and it hardly gets any traffic. Boy, this is really complicated. I think, the best measure of success would be 'Did i archieve my goal?' kind of thing. Im looking for targetted traffic (and hopefully good conversion too) and i will be happy if i get them regardless if i have a high pr site or not.
The true value of PageRank: Money. The higher the PageRank the more you can charge people for advertising.
