What is the point of giving rep?

I just noticed that you can give rep to people, does that mean they get iTrader or something even if they havent done a trade or what? Where does it say how much rep someone has?

 

iTrader is completely different from REP. That little green square by your post count.. is your rep bar.. to get two green squares you need 100+ rep points.

I cant remember where the thread was explaining it better.. but thats a bit of info for you.

quickly filled (100 reps 1 greeen blob) and
other members can see it and value their answers accordingly

Thanks for the link. I learned a few new things about rep

 

The only thing I dont like about REP is the fact people are giving people reps for like a good comment etc! Kind of dis-values the system imo

you got grey blobs because some one might have repped green in general chat which wont carry any reps points
