I use Eset NOD32 and it works great. There one month trial version can be downloaded here NOD32 Trial
I LOVE MY COMPUTER SO MUCH! thats why it runs 3 anti virus AVG,AVAST,AntiVIR PE anti virus software...but it never slows my computer performance...
probably because you're too busy recaulking your windows. you know all that free radiation floating around.
Im using zone alarm security suite.before im using norton antivirus 2003.. But I fee safer in zone alarm so I shift to it...
I was using Norton, but they recently irritated me to the point that I don't want to give them any more of my money. So, after surfing some computer security forums, I have noticed that AVG and NOD32 are pretty highly-rated. I'll probably give them a try and get rid of Norton Antivirus, which seems to invade a system more thoroughly than MS software, and is harder to get off a system (completely) than some viruses. Plus, it is bloatware. Every new version they come out with seems to have more features on it that I didn't want. Yet you have to take the extras, because everything is integrated together. Buh-bye, Norton!
Never used antivirus software, and never had a virus. But I do have a pretty mean hardware and software firewall setup.
Ok guys, this concerns me quite a bit... to see how many people rely and trust those freeware applications. I have mentioned before that you should not rely on freeware to obtain a good level of security for your computer and some even told me that i was talking crap and that they where socalled veterans and how good the scanning engine of AVG was and that it isn't any less better then the paid versions out there... and that the only difference is that the paid versions do their updates faster. First all, your anti-malware/virusscanner is as good for a large part as the frequency of the latest malware signature updates and the team that stands behind these malware signature updates. And also the heuristics of the scanning engine. If you rely on free versions then you get your updates to late since you are running behind resulting in a possible infection with all kinds of nasties. If a certain malware breaks out and your freeware version gets it's update 24 till to how many x hours later then it's kind of pointless since damage can already be done. In contrast to paid versions that are updated within one or two hours or even faster. I know it isn't full-proof...but what is if you are doing everything on the same computer? I can definately reconmend Kaspersky, they have an excellent team supporting their product and they are the fastest with their malware signature updates. To debunk the quality even more of AVG (sorry for the AVG lovers and fanatics) i have a link that you should take some time to read through. It's an interview with a Botnet owner and to take some of the most important parts out of the interview... Botnet owner Here is the interview for the interested and here is the story of the interviewer. Like i said before if you have the oppurtunity and your wallet allows it then go for a paid version to protect your computer and the things you are working on. And please don't rely on freeware alone. It just scares me to see how many people are so optimistic on AVG. If you can't afford it then you have no chance and it's all you can do but if you can buy a decent product then do it!
