Thinking of selling my forum

    Hi all,

    Im thinking about selling my political forum and wanted to see what kind of price I could get for it before making a decision. I simply no longer have the time to run this site. It has huge potential but I have other projects with far more potential that I wish to direct more time into.

    Traffic: About 3,500 unique per month

    Income: About $35.00 per month. Hacks can be added so that the ads are better displayed. I havent even tried to get advertisers yet so that may be a good income option as well.

    PR: The domain is new. It used to be phpBB and on another domain but when I bought vB I also bought the new domain and moved everything over. There should definatly be PR on next update.

    Posts: Just under 11,000

    Threads: Just under 1,300 (this forum has been quite active in the past few weeks.

    Pages indexed: Google shows about 4,300 indexed. The forum has been getting heavily crawled in the past few weeks.

    Cost of hosting: $5.00 a month

    What comes with it?
    Custom unique design, files, backup, domain for about 8 months and then you will have to renew, vB liscense. Everything would be moved and transferred into your name. The current moderators are very active and keep a constant eye on things. I'll stick around and continue posting for a while if need be.

    If I can think of anything else I will add it.

    A general guide for site sales is 12 x monthly profit.

    You are making 35 month so as the previous poster said 420 is about correct.

    Ahh I see. Ok I have already invested that much in advertising and vB software alone much less my time spent building a core membership and design.

    I guess I'll hold on to it for a while. :)

    I think forums are hard to judge for value. I know from experience, the time and effort in to building them can really add up.

    Yeah the time it takes to build that core membership is far more than I can handle but on the other hand I would rather deal with it until I can sell it for a price that makes it feel like it was worth the time.

    Yeh it sucks how much effort you put in sometimes especially with forums. know as my own forum has 1800 members and I have worked like a dog for that

    Well to be honest with you guys, I wouldnt let it go for less than $900.00. I know I probably won't be able to sell it for that for quite some time, but that is where it would start to be worth it.

    This site has been my passion for quite some time. I built a mod team that is VERY loyal and things are starting to pick up. I would have charged far more than $420.00 to do this so this is why I am stiff on the price.

    I would say when it gets to the point where it could sell for $900.00 I would consider it. Im not going to sell it just to get rid of it, It sucks having to spend so much time on it but then again I am willing to keep at it for a while to make sure what I get in return is worth it for me.
