After make two mistakes in DP forums, I figured there's quite a few things all newbies to DP must do or know before they get themselves into trouble (like myself ) Here's wat I come up with. Feel free to add to this list. 1. Read the FAQ/Rules first. This is the basic guidelines what every newbie must know if they are keen to stay on at DP. There's Signature & Live Link Guidelines, Posting Guidelines and Infractions details. Make sure you understand this first. 2. Search for keywords first before starting a new thread. Most of the time, you won't be the first person to start a thread on Google, SEO , how to make money online, etc. In fact most of the questions we got, someone probably started a thread on it before. So it work best to search first. Pick a few keywords and try searching for it first. If it still fail to show any searched results then start a new thread. This way, you are less likely to get a 'scolding' from the folks here. 3. Dun try to sell every text links you got here at DP. This one is for me personal. Most of the pple here at DP are pretty experienced in buying text links, so unless you got a good PR website (E.g 5,6,7), chances you will get a lot of sales is not high. Instead focus on building your own website first, get a good PR then consider selling. Start small! 4. Offer to help others, give some advice, give reputation (to me, maybe? ), etc. Give something out for FREE! This works something like PAY IT FORWARD, when you start to give, then you will receive... Surprising this works very well in online forums, not just DP. Offer to something to others, and dun be stingy. This doesn't you could 'spam' DP with FREE ebooks, fonts, wallpapers, scripts, etc. Do it on your own blog or website. 5. Share your experience with DP. This is perhaps the best way to get posts or replies in thread. Most of the pple at DP are very helpful in giving advices, so take the time and write a decent thread about your experience, pple will start to contribute and you will learn much much more this way. It sure beat trying to make a few quick buck off the Buy, Sell or Trade section. Alright, that's about all I could think of. Or rather this is something I wish someone told me before I got myself in the mess I'm in now. LOL... Newbies out there... Be warned.
tip number three is very important because when i visited the sale link forum i saw a huge number of thread unread or replied. Its really point to consider that PR# on DP is not a big deal, here every onee want PR5 or PR6 link
That's actually a very good summary iworkforthem - rep heading your way. When I saw the title of this thread I thought 'read the signature and posting guidelines' but I think you've covered that in the FAQs. Good post.
This works, but people all over the trade forum demand a good itrader rating and a good rank. How can you expect us newbies to get a good itrader rating unless we make the 'first' transaction. Later today i wanted to change my e-currency (i know it's early to do so).. everywhere i saw the words 'you must have a good itrader rating'.. for god's sake.. give us a break.. how are we supposed to get any rating at all unless you give it to us (give us the chance).. first???
That's a good point too - I don't want to jump on iworkforthem's thread but I'll quickly answer. iTrader is not the only sign of respectability around here - some users have a lot of posts and give quality information and they'll be looked on favourably too. Get your post count up and iTrader will come your way when people start making offers for your sig links. In the meantime try selling little things first because people will be more willing to give you the benefit of the doubt - don't expect payment upfront from the better known DP members - they'll not shaft you because if you leave a mark on their reputation it is damaging.
I guess you're right.. but the most demanded thing on the trade forum is itrader.. cze it show's your authenticity and reliability of trading. However.. i guess i'll just go ahead with making quality contributions, and when i feel i have a good post count, i'll probably head over to the trade forum.
Think CountryBoy make a lot of sense on the 'Get your post count up and iTrader will come your way when people start making offers for your sig links.' Or when you have something to sell, E.g. sponsoring of text link in a new template you did. Instead of asking for $$$, ask for iTrader instead of cash. This will certainly help. I guess most of the time, we have to take things slow, whether it's iTrader or our website traffic, it takes time to develop. See what the pros did in the past, they'd also gotten their iTrader slowly and steadily too. We won't expect pple to donate iTrader points ( I'd love some though ) without actually having something to offer, right?
