For everyone who thinks they know the answer to the question "When will Toolbar PR reporting return?", see this thread http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=17319
You guys got a love'n' hate thing apart from PR-disputes runnin or somethin'? None of my business though, just thought since you carry it out in public... after minstrel appearing on page 19, (or 29, can't remember) yer both levelling reasonable arguments... though reading through the G patent PR does flow into relevance if I ain't wrong... Now how about this: a fairly well ranked site, lost traffic, lost PR, then started to get traffic again - but for rather nonsense KWs, about twenty hours ago googlebot freaked out (spidered far beyond the daily amount) and G continues to send me irrelevant traffic... my top KW was ranked #1 out of 17M and is now out of top 1k. My guess is, since a solid site can't disappear over night, PR or not to PR, the world is gonna drop back in track w/ or w/out PR - especially since a lot of changes (meaning G, major update, timing in the US etc) has been overdue, 302, Algo and not to mention my favorite bet, tactics (a desperate strike against black-hat-spammer-gangsters) - break me if I'm wrong, I'll still love y'all... tiqital het
IMO... if you're actively marketing your site etc PR should make that much difference in your operations. However PR has been a guage like those on your car. Something to give you more information about your surroundings.
I think they may be running a complete pagerank update. Remember, it takes many iterations to get true pagerank for all pages. I think in the past they just did incomplete calculations because of the immensity of the data set. I'm thinking they may have reached a point where they have enough hardware and processor power to recalculate the whole index.
Interesting dialogue. As for me, the colour of my guage is grey. But then, perhaps I over-analyse? It has always been grey, despite me labouring rigourously over my site: How-to-Subtley-Annoy-Americans.com "PR - If you've never had it, you don't miss it!"
Not understanding that one, Greenwood... do you mean will it cost you money to get Google to show you PR? If so, I don't think so.
After every pr update, I get a whole bunch of webmasters hunting for a linking spot on one of my pages. Mostly from websites that are not even close related to my website topics. The only thing that could prevent this google manipulation would be a grey or 0 PR. Thats a good thing right in my opinion. On the other hand a system that indicates the importance of a website ( related to inbound links) IS a good thing. So I guess Google is trying to figure out how to manage both. For Seo the PR is not that important, just building good pages and get natural links this way. But somehow it's strange see all the pages grey at a sudden, my bet is that it will be on soon, maybe after recalculation of the entire PR thingee.
