I want to post products and services to craigslist with my company link at the bottom, changing the title and description to try and cover all my keywords. Anyone know if the posts would count as back links or do they fall off the system? Also the listings would be repetative because the descriptions of the products and services would always be the same text and I was wondering if I could do damage to my rankings.
There is no reason why a Craigslist entry could count not count as a backlinks I thought that PR would be low but looking at the list for my home town of Glasgow most pages seem to rank at 5 or even 6. You're biggest problem is that entries are removed after 45 days so it is unlikely that you would get any benefit from them long term.
That's what I was thinking. The links are up for such a short time, that they probably don't provide any real value other than the traffic they may generate.
Any thing which is temporary has absolutely no value in long run. Craiglist is good for generating leads, but one should avoide multiple posting as per TOS of craiglist. IMO
Can generate some traffic (but all depends on the title of the post - otherwise users won't click on it).
Just Repost every 30-45 days???? Also do a search for your ad URL in Google and in the Google toolbar. It will be spidered sooner.
I agree with that ... use Craigs for the leads but don't hope too much as for the PR building ... since the links you post there are only temporary anyways !

I put a post up for clients sites I am promoting if the url is not yet indexed. I am not saying it is the only way, but forms part of what I do for a new url. Talking in terms of quality traffic or value is a totally different question, naturally many people get benefit from the services aspect. Not sure what else it can offer for SEO and linking due to its 45 day cycle. Anyone actually done any real experiments from an SEO point of view? Has anyone ever tried linking from ad to ad on craiglist to boost the ad? Does that work? Maybe we have some Craigs experts than can give us some meaty info.
Yes, i second that. A link on craigs is great for getting a site first indexed, and crawled by the SE's. I have been using this method for a while and works like clockwork.
