Google maps has a new satellite option that allows you to find all kinds of satellite images. I was able to zoom into my back yard and see the swimming pools next door. Awesome. I added one a link to Yankee Stadium on my baseball site at: http://www.about-baseball.org/yankees/new-york-yankees.php Click on the "Yankee Stadium Satellite Map" link. Great toy.
Yeah sometimes I get so involved in the Google maps with all the cool stuff you can do I end up not doing any work. hehe. Check these threads for more info on Google and Maps. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=12879 = Satellite added (Google bought KeyHole) http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=12890 = Find a taxi, limousine or shuttle using real time position of vehicles. I sleep assured that if a terrorist ever decides to bomb my house; they will bomb my neighbor 2 houses down, since the map points there for my address
I showed it to people at work today, no one got anything done for an hour or so. All you heard up and down the halls was "Look, it's my house!".
Couldn't tell with this software. What a piece of junk. The real technology is out there. Sounds like Google has not even given us the full resolution of the tool they bought. By the way, the inteligence capabilities of the Canadian army have just just quadrupled.
My house is right on the edge of where they don't focus as much, so when you zoom in my front yard is blurry. I am assuming that it is because it sort of is the city limits. Also must be from last summer, since the houses behind me are not there in the picture.
I'm not a big fan of the feature...we all need some privacy. Its almost kinda creepy how detailed it is. You can actually see cars!
You will see that the shots are about a year old for a reason. The government doesn't allow you the real time access of what they see or the detail they "can" see it at if they zoom in more. Just imagine if you could control the zoom and direction of a camera??
I'm going outside RIGHT NOW to pour gasoline on my lawn to spell out the URLs to a few website's.. THIS, my friends, is the future of driving traffic to your websites.
True, but this info has been freely available since the 70's that I know of. Heck, you have had access to this info on the net since the net went mainstream. However, it has never been this easy and cool to use though. Now if all of this was real time and you could zoom in to a persons wrist watch? I'd have to take issue then Anyway.
Awesome idea. It wouldn't work for me because I make too many typos and don't get me started on the price of gas.
