The Adsense Dream [a newbies handbook]

We have to stop promising people fortunes on adsense!
    or they will get hurt

newbies take it the wrong way, they think adsense is a goldmine, its NOT, all them ebook selling people, its in their best interest to sell a dream to
people who just start with adsense (its in googles best interest as well, think of the interest they earn on the months it taskes for a new user to make over 100 ;) )

threads like this dont help either
    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=63647

they make people new to adsense think they will be millionaires (well in some countries $100 goes a long way)

ITS HARD MAKING ALOT OF MONEY FROM ADSENSE! full stop

i make 80-100 a day and climbing, but that was only after programming in php5 for months
aquiring and seting up dedicated servers, SEOing in relevant places, and most traffic came from a gmail style invite only marketing

IT WAS HARD WORK, you might say that i can sit back and relax

but im not contempt, im coding a filehosting system (like rapidshare)
that will involve purchasing dozens of servers, 42u collocation and gigE line (this involves a 5digit monthly investment)

IT TAKES MONEY TO MAKE MONEY
im spending dozens of hours (time is money) programming linux deamon in C
and i made a multithreaded java server, that will replicate files and load balance visitors to the site onto least busy servers, im spending money on renting networking equipment to lab test servers, im hiring people

once again its HARD WORK but i enjoy it, im aimed big with one site and now im aiming higher with a cluster of dozen servers (or more if needed)

so the moral of the story is IF YOU ARE DETERMINED YOU WILL succeed ! else you fail where thousands of other publishers have done

and thats my rant, thanks for reading

    Strange post.
People quickly find out its not easy.

However you don't need to go out and learn PHP or java or C to bring in the money with adsense.
I hardly know any php and would never even bother coding my own sites that required it - time is better spent doing other, more important things.

the point i was trying to get across is that new people get an illusion that adsense is a cash machine, taht you can walk up to and take free money out of

and people selling ebooks capitalise on this

I came across this site in my logs today:
    http://www.wongkeenhing.com/?p=204

Ignore the plethora of ads and scroll down a bit. Like Shoe said, its mostly about hard work but there are a lot of resources in that one post.

Works for me..I would give you the cache but it hasn't even been indexed yet.

There do seem to be some script errors on that site so maybe they are too much for your setup. I can never understand why some people go through so much effort to put up good content on their blog then screw it all up by putting so many plugins and ads, its impossible for half the people to view it.

Enough ranting for now I guess

These aren't dreams, these are reality. I really think the Reese video is a great example of starting from scratch and building a wealth system. No one ever said it wasn't hard work, but sometimes its easier for others.

I think these posts are great for motivation. Great to get a newbie's butt in gear. They may think, "I have no idea what I'm doing"...and give up. Or they might watch a video like the Reese one or read an inspiring thread and make the effort to learn what it takes to "make the grade".

Personally, I know its not hard to make the kind of money in the above threads. Its about applying yourself and MOVING. It's doing...not watching.

    I make 3x,xxx a month with Adsense.

However, I spent ten months when I earned less than $5 a day with Adsense.

Only rather recently did i disciver how to make lots of moeny with Adsense.

One day I asked myself why I wasn't making much money with Adsense. I had tried all of the usual strategies and methods, but I knew there had to be a way to make lots of money with Adsense if I created a whole new approach to it.

If you have been with Adsense for 10 months or so and still not making $10/day or more it is time to rethink your strategy cause what you are doing isnt working.

I bought high Pr links for example and create niche pages. That worked for me.

You have to keep trying stuff out and work hard. If a method fails simply scrap it and create a new one.

Your post has many excellent points but yours is not a typical situation.

It is NOT necessary to invest thousands of dollars in buying servers, and it is NOT necessary to be a professional PHP/Linux programmer, and it is NOT necessary to spend months building your site. That is ONE way to do it, but certainly not the ONLY way.

It was not my way, and I make more than $100 a day. Just a point that newbies should not be discouraged by the difficulty of one particular method. There's more than one way to skin a cat, as they say.

Oh man, wish I had learned all that programming junk when I was at school. Now I gotta go back and learn the basics because I know there is even more money to be made out there if you can automate a site with programming junk.

I think the time variable is the hardest to deal with. You can't speed it up, it costs money while you wait, and it is REALLY hard to keep believing when you can't see any results.

Agreed. You can outsource for decent amounts of money these days and get quality results.

As for people cashing in on ebooks.. they wouldn't be cashing if people weren't willing to buy them.
If I could make money by writing an ebook about making money, I'd sure do it as well ;)

Im not trying to discourage newbies

The point i wanted to get across was "if your not prepared to put in work, money will not come"

yes you dont have to be a good programmer or sys admin to make a fortune with advertisers like adsense,

but anyone who makes any decent amount of money reading this, will agree that they did have to
PUT IN SOME WORK to get money rolling in

I would have to agree with the "Money makes money" thinking. Combine that with "Time is Money". Making money with Adsense or anything else requires time, effort and an initial as well as on-going investment. I have had websites up for more than an year now and have been putting in as much time or effort I can, with my day job as well. But, I do know that I could do so much more if I could inject an extra 40 hours a week into the sites and/or an extra $1000 a month (say).

It is possible to grow slowly (like I am) but it is much easier and quicker with advertising in my opinion. Advertising can get you there much quicker.

Automating sites with programing junk is much easier than you need, half the work can be done with "include" statement :) and the other with the help of php.net

another good way to learn is to pay some freelance programmer to do some tasks for you and then analyze the code, if you have basic understanding of any programming language you should be able to pick it up very quick.
