"Super Article" Strategy

I just coined the term super article, so don't think it's some big strategy.

I was thinking, what you think of doing what I like to call a super article. This one is much larger, so instead of 500 words, it's 2000-3000 words. It's full of juicy information. Just to see if you can a lot of back links.

Has anyone tried something like that? The mega article for back links.

Check out this forex one (no that's not mine).

You'll notice it's 2200 words, over 11,000 views (probably because it's got good keywords), but I imagine it also is on a lot of websites.

    What do you think?

Might be a good idea. Mine tend to be shorter but maybe this is a good way to have lots of keywords in there.

I thought it might be a good idea to try now and than to get a flurry of backlinks.

You mean to write articles, which are veeeeery, veery long? ;)

That would be good, but it takes time.

that article was also put there in 2005, that could be a factor.

I've seen plenty of huge articles without much views, nobody wants to stick some huge thing on their site and take away from their product selling. Biggest factor here is that in 2005 article marketing was in its' infancy so there minimal competition, so it gained a ton of republising/links.

**Why didn't you coin it as a 'supper article'??

Yes the long ones tend to draw huge numbers, and talk about building up motivation to buy :) If after this article you're still unclear about making a decision to purchase - you are indecisive!

I agree with your backlink comments as well - look forward to seeing your masterpieces, keep us in the loop.

Sounds great, don't really feel like writing bitching long articles like that, but if it produces major results.. I'm here..

As Norb said, keep us in the loop.

If the average attention span of most people is as long as mine, i'd say don't bother. Who knows though, it just may work.

People break them up into 2-3 articles.. and post them to 500+ directories. not sure how that works.. i have seen it done tho..

    Thx

I sure think it's worth a try. I usually keep my articles around 400 words so most who read will at least get to the resource box.

I'm afraid I'd lose too many along the way.

Let us know if you do try longer articles.

I have noticed that longer articles seem to get picked up by publishers more often, but I've also noticed that CTR rates on those articles tend to be much lower. So I guess it depends on what you are after. If it's backlinks then long articles may do better if it's clickthroughs I'd stick with short articles.

I was banned for some sort of activity in the political forum. Since Mods at DP have the accountability of a 30 year old hippie living in "moms" basement, I don't expect to get an exact reason for why I was banned.

i'm confused- so how come your allowed to post again! you never did answer my question as to how many articles were generating 150-200 hops a day! If it's any consolation- You have my vote.
