Suggestion: Hiding URL's

    Hello,

I may be a noob here but have been on many other boards that have done this with good results.

We should have the URL in a post but hidden till a user replies.

    Therefore:

    Post is:

    WTS PR6 for $50/year at http://www.********.com

and then when they click on a reply it will show the site.

I assume that the reason we hide here is so Search sites don't give us a black eye for selling links.

    Thank you

Not such a bad idea in the sense it would calm concerns that Google is spying on link sales. On the otherhand you'd have even more of a problem with people posting shite (like 'thanks' and 'URL pls') just to reveal the URL. Swings and roundabouts methinks.

It's already been suggest that they Make Buy, Sell or Trade forum members only under the same reasoning and it didn't seem to go anywhere...

So I recommend that you use one of the methods found HERE to make links if you do not want it known to SE's that you are selling links ~ or maybe just don't sell them ;)

Though personally, I'd be rather annoyed if I could not see links when browsing threads, and forcing people to post in them to see only promotes post whoring which is already a problem here.

    *bump*

It;'ll increase about 25k spam posts a day. Also, users would be gone from here due to infractions.

We would need 2-5 more mods to handle that.

    Not a good idea....

Thats not a good idea, that mod is usually used on warez forums so they can get the post count up by saying thanks etc. Plus there will be alot of spam going on which we dont want.

I agree with everyone else this just makes the forum a spam fest to get links to the items that you want. This isnt such a good idea because then people would be posting "see url" or stuff like that and then not letting the buyer and seller communicate well.
