Tip on linking to non-compliant sites

If you link to non-compliant sites do one of the following.
    • use the [plain] bbcode. This will make www.digitalpoint.com into a NON URL like www.digitalpoint.com (this actually works on MOST forums)
      EX: [plain]www.digitalpoint.com[/plain]

    • Additionally, you could use the [url] bbcode, but that does have it's draw backs here. In that it's still followed by server stats (as in if you linked to the DP from a no-follow link Shawn could still see that someone clicked from there to here via something like AWStats). [url] works the same as the [url] bbcode but adds the re="nofollow" tag.
      EX: [url]www.digitalpoint.com[/url]]

    • You could also do random things like add in spaces www . digitalpoint . com or something else like that, but it honestly just does not look all that great.
In the end though, the first two tips offer a better looking post and will help keep your thread on top (no one likes to bump uglies).

This works for other things on here as well, such as showing which bbcode to use (noparse will not convert the bbcode to html EX [plain][BBCODE][/plain] shows the bbcode complete with [brackets]).

It's generally a good idea to check out what other nifty things have been added as well. For bbcodes check here: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/misc.php?do=bbcode

At any rate, I hope I've helped some of you and that more people will start using these methods to help keep the DP all pretty and stuff ;)

No, they won't as I've just seen in another post (currently the most recent one in this forum)

    This should be stickied!

Course, by posting this, this becomes the most recent post, rendering the parenthetical portion of my first line false :)

    Lol ;)

People that are posting to links to non-compliant sites or sites they would otherwise not link too are helping that site get linkbacks, so in a way, why they might be getting some scum banned from AdSence, they are helping that member in SERPS and possibly PR.

I'm not sure it's important enough for a sticky thread, though these things should be common knowledge. Then again, maybe that would be nice...so members here will stop helping those that should not be getting any assistance...
