Suggestion: Directory list

    Dear Moderators,

I have 1 suggestion here. Why not make a sticky thread for directory list. Only moderators can update the directory list. The directory can be categorized into paid listing, unpaid listing(require reciprocal link), free listing and labeled as seo friendly or not. IMO, this thread will bring benefits to all of us. ;)

This has been done before, many times. We also have numerous "directories of directories" available, many of them advertised in this forum, that do the same thing.

I just don't see a need for yet another sticky on that topic.

Since this is the place where people make discussion about directory and there are plenty of directories share here everyday . Why not make a better, complete list of directory. I believe here is the place that can make a quality and better list. Sorry if someone post this type of thread before.

That's my point: These days you can barely make it to the kitchen for another coffee without tripping over yet another directory list. Why would anyone need another one?

I use mine for myself and clients. If I didnt have one I know there is one a click or two away. I dont see a need for another list.

Apart from the "yet another directory list", there is another consideration. It takes A LOT of time to update such list - if you mean to have a quality one.

Directories change very fast, from unpaid to paid, some quit, new emerge, some change script from seo friendly to seo unfriendly.

There are many that just quickly merge another three lists together and come up with their own, that's easy, but what is not is keeping that list up to date. Even checking whether it is SEO friendly is a bit time consuming. I can't see why moderators should or would want to waste their time on that.

I think it's a great idea.. the flip side of this overspent coin is that a central list proving authoritative would be really useful.

The reason for not doing it though has already presented as the very demise of ODP.
Human maintenance (as already mentioned by subseo).

There's simply no denying that such a list (auth) would be great from an SEO standpoint :)

    Cheers,

    JL
