Can I please have some suggestions for advertising my website directory? I don't have a credit card so I can't pay for any advertising campaigns. I'm getting an average of 10 additions each day but I would like to increase this amount by atleast 100% before the end of this month.

At the moment It's just forum advertising. I was thinking about writing an article on search egnine optimization and the importance of website directories and then submiting It to article websites and other services like digg for extra exposure.

What are your experiences with website directories?
What form of advertising has worked best for you?
Where can I adverise my directory?

    Kind regards.

Get listed in the free web directory lists, mentioned in this post.. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=25101

When the directory is futher down the road and will have some traffic/pagerank add sponsered listings to create funds to support advertising for your directory.

Assuming zomp.org is your directory, if you want to handle more and more submissions a day you have to create more categories, there are only top level categories, within couple of weeks people don't want to submit because the categories are too general. And follow above, you'll get more submissions.

Good idea, write an article and submit it.

    1. Good, as long as you spend time maintaining and promoting your webdirectory.
    2. Textlink advertising, banner advertising, promoting via webmaster forums, link exchanges, co-op network, digg, shoutwire, articles, blogs, web directory lists, and more..
    3. Start here: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/forumdisplay.php?f=65

Good luck with running and promoting your webdirectory.

You might also find it easier to get listings if you created more categories so that it would be easier for people to list in the right location.

I noticed the sport directory section contained a listing for a hotel and for European lottery results. That suggests those people were looking for a hotel and a lottery section, but could not find them. Maybe you need to have a "suggest a cetgory" link while you are buidling the directory.

Moving those listings around would help make your directory look more organized.
