I hear alot about "social media experts" but aside from simply posting your articles to digg, etc. I am unaware of the potential and exact HOW-to of the area, especially for link building. Please post How-to information regarding your social media strategy
I posted my home page of my blog to social bookmarking sites and I got one highly competitive ranked on the first page of Bing. But it's a bit more complicated when it comes to ranking on Google.
It's about being creative if you want to build these type of links the hard/free way. Here's an example:
Beautiful. I love to see linkbaiting. .... So many of you are using social media to simply spread the linkbait you created? What are some real TECHNIQUES, and daily practices people are using with social media?
I wanted to point you all to hass2's thread here: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1387729 . I just read his report and it was very informative and I will definitely be incorporating it into my strategy. Thanks hass2
Social is great for exposure. If you are using it as a link building method, this is not a smart choice. Unless of course, you build the exposure, that gets links from many peoples sites. This is the true way to do it!
social media marketing is a very broad contcept. it can include YouTube video marketing (YouTube has more visitrs than Google) and other social networking sites like facebook, myspace, linked in etc. also there are social media and social bookmarking sites to utilize. evey single site has its own nature and unique marketing strategy is required for each site. i wrote a blogpost on link building with web 2.0 and social media sites which might be helpful.
I like what's going on so far.... does anyone know much about content syndication/ distribution. I can write some good articles about a category that I know many people would love to have on their site. Aside from email each one of these websites, do you all know of any good distributors that would get the content out there for websites to place onto their site? (besides simple article directories)
Ive always been a huge fan of Clipmarks and Youtube as means for link baiting. But, then you need to be really creative and smart to make the most of these avenues for link baiting. As for Social bookmarking, I tend to avoid newly opened up and unchecked bookmarking websites as they often get filled up complete spam links. The best way to go at it is to use a select list of top do-follow social bookmarking websites and bookmark your best catchy posts.
Power users get good traffic, linkbaiting get's you traffic and links. Ordinary news will not get you traffic or links. So either be a power user on any of the social media sites or use link baiting for getting your traffic and links.
Yes that is the basic concept. Create linkbait which you promote on social media sites. Easier said the done though.
