The integrity of the ODP depends on the honesty of its editors, and great damage can be done by dishonest or self-interested ones, not to mention all the effort required by other volunteers in correcting that damage. So it should be obvious that those with the responsibility of accepting new editors expect to see the same honesty in an application that is expected in an editor.

The implication is not that you are dishonest and if they thought you were being dishonest, you would not have been encouraged to apply again.

My personal thoughts are that you are being urged to ensure everything possible that can be declared, has been declared. You can see from this forum that everything can be questioned, insinuations and inuendos are constantly cast around and having any affilliation declared is as much for your protection, as it is for ODP.

I declare absolutely anything im related to, then it's never an issue. ;)

Not at all. You commented on the requirements for listing your affiliations and how much time that would take, so I explained why it is considered an important part of the application.
I was simply pointing out the necessity for all applicants to be honest. :)

honest peoples cant add on directory such type of links which I found myself !!! honest peoples cant make everything possible to hide from public things , or to force mods ( in case they are mods there ) cant give infractions there like I got , honest peoples cant use copy/paste pre-made advertising text to answer to questions asked by HUMANS . Honest peoples cant misinform peoples about things which they are supposed to do '' volunteer '' .

Wow, that's quite a leap of "logic" from my comment about what a dishonest person might do if accepted, but I guess that's just how some people's minds work.

I applied on Friday and was turned down on Saturday. Pretty Quick turn-around. lol

Someone needs to start a Become a DMOZ editor Service where they will take your email address and the category you are interested in editing and apply for you.

I think someone could make some good money doing that.

Not me though, I cant even get to edit on little category with 5 links in it.

    Well, not het at least.

I've added nearly 25,000 sites to the directory - if I have that many friends I will need a lot of stamps this Christmas. ;)

You can. look at threads started by me like DMOZ price list or corruption in DMOZ continues. The price of DMOZ listing was down to $40-$50 awhile back but then senior editors got upset and pushed the price up to $100 again. ;):D

My comments would be price is immaterial, it is the moral of the editor.

OMG do not put words on my moth A. Please understand one little thing , beside the others I really have my opinions and I always I`m trying to be honest in any situation , never under any circumstances I`m not trying to '' modify '' the truth is not important for me the consequences which my words and my thinking give , important always is I`m really saying what I think .

With the '' IF '' , means there on this context ... since I don't have any knowledge about any corruption by any of the editors , I`m forced by my decency to use this way to say the things .... IF IS TRUE .... actually that's the way how things can going on ....

I`m not saying Gworld is wrong or correct , most of hes threads which he refer have years since they are open , and suppose he have some evidence about what he trying to point out , it's hes right to do , BUT like I said I think before ... things can be changed there if something is wrong then great change them on better way , if the things are ok improve them . Until now ... honestly I don't have ( yet ) any not even ONE reason to consider the things will be changed on better way and this because since I started to be interested about ODP and DMOZ listings :
    1. I found links on directory which are breaking the guidelines and the rules which you guys claiming are respected !.
    2. My threads from there and from RZ was closed without giving any decent answer ( I HATE pre-made text to answer to peoples , and I hate when someone have even a second intention to consider me retard thinking if giving me some really crap answers can close my mouth ) .
    3. I got infractions there ! because what I say ( replies to some of the folks ) ... THANKS again for them , and I got some of the replies deleted !
    4. The editorial application story have hes part on this too ... ( it's not human reviewed / or if is human review I wanna kiss the editor who rejected it with my truck ! frontal ! - claiming to be HUMAN means to do things like human not like machines ! - this is apply for hole directory ! )
5 . Tools which DMOZ claiming to have / Suggestion features for the directory - I have serious e doubts things are really like you peoples claiming to be .

And the list can continue :)!
