Here is a 9 page thread that spans the past year about Shopster. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=38882 There are other threads about it here too. Most feedback I've read has been very positive. James, the affiliate manager from AMWSO is great to work with and very helpful if you need anything.
I just signed up today. I search the forums and I haven't really seen anyone say they made any money using this program. I signed up because it looks like they offer more products than my dollar store affliate offers. My personal opinion is to be successful with anything like this, you must already have a site with quite a bit of traffic. Add a link to your affliate site to your current site. Also, the products need to be geared towards your current site's niche.
I had a shopster account and store-after spending hundreds of dollars on marketing-total sales 7 months 0 I hired a company to look to see what could be done with the site and he told me it was such a cookie cutter cheap site that you could not modify the site to substantial degree ,eg you cannot set domain to address to change to a zone file but can only set nameservers to point at your site(which searchengines don't like).Their so called WHOLESALE Pricing is 10-20% higher than any other wholesaler, I made the mistake of buying my domain through shopster. I have had to cut the domain loose because They have no way (or they don't want to) transfer it to a different host. a truly disappointing experience, don't waste your money on these guys. I have given this company plenty of time to straighten out the domain issue but it seems they are unwilling or incapable of doing so. Les Magnuson
The most successful retailers tag a Shopster store onto an existing website with decent traffic. Obviously, with no traffic you can't expect to make many sales. I obviously cannot give you an impartial recommnediation, so I urge you to check out this review by Heather Paulson in Revenews: http://www.revenews.com/heatherpaulson/2006/11/my_thumbs_up_shopstercom.html. Also check out these other reviews from the past few months: Check out Shopster - CNET - 10/02/06 Shopster vs. E-Bay stores - ResourceShop.net - 10/21/06 There are loads more reviews here: http://www.shopster.com/news.html Shopster most definitely is not a 'cookie-cutter' system. If you check out this page you'll see why: http://www.shopster.com/features.html. I hope this helps. If you have any further questions please drop me an email or post on this thread.
