    Well, after doing the on-page optimization, you have to do the off-page optimization of your website so that you can increase the popularity of your website through some valuable and reliable back links, there are too many activities you can perform to get back links, such as :

    forum posting
    blog commenting
    article submission
    directory submission etc...

    Post on a variety of different places but make sure you mix up the anchor text, put some plain urls in there and some click heres to make it seem natural and also some nofollows as well - aim for a natural llooking link building pattern.

    Forget about directory submission. It's useless nowadays. Only few directories worth spending time on getting there. For example, DMoz, Yahoo Directory...

    I trick I use often is to have my customers ask their best clients for a written testimonial on their website with anchor text back to them. This gives nice natural looking keyword text and a quality backlink. If possible, choose clients with a high Google PR.
