Hey guys want you to review the forum in my sig...

Notice the new mod_rewrite, I like it a lot already helping traffic...very nicely done by a guy from RAC :D

Also notice the Adsense incorporation? I ve had members actually tell me they like the ads they say they are usefull...

Anywayz tell me what you think and if you like it maybe consider becoming a casual member ;)

initial reaction was that it kinda loaded slowly.

    http://www.alertra.com/spotcheck.php

go there to test out your speed

the green is too bright! the headings shouldn't stand out that much that i'm not interested in reading the forum

i do like the organization of it though

maybe a larger banner at the top?

It looks good, I like the mouse over effect on the rows. Didn't even notice the ads which is good but the thread starters were kinda moronic. Didn't make me want to register

Take a look at Listen up forum owners!

There are a few sites now offering "pay to post" schemes and it might be good to utilise them, $$$ allowing.

You need to work out your own business model, business goals and the stategies to support their goals.

You already have the subscribe feature in your forum. but how to get people like me to subscribe? You have to appeal to us. I'm not sure what your edge is.

I subscribe to a huge number of forums that I never hear from, they die overnight from lack of traffic. You need to work out how that won't happen to you. But that's all part of your business plan. After all you haven't invested time and money without some sort of "big picture"

If u put only general chat and delete the sports, games, music, news. Then ur forum too good. bcz general chat cover up all the Catagory.

As u one think know that we are all here only in DPS forum bcz we going to gain knowledge about our websites thats How to be Good, how we attract visitors, How to increase our revenue.

People only attract in you sites, when u know Whats the Visitors want, whats his taste. If u show only your taste then no one come in your sites. :p

Ok lets one experiment, post one topic in Dp general chat about any MOvies.
and then we all know whats the Webmaster think.

Hope to be you are not going to red.

Well i would say it looks nice but then all you have done is put up forum software and used a style someone else created. The logo is nice tho...

    Loads slow...

It's Christmas colors! Also, the speed was really slow for me, too. It is organized well (I'm glad to see C++ hasn't be totally killed by Java, yet). The movies and general stuff seems to be a tad too big of a section. I seen other fourms where the general stuff got a little too popular and it forced all the people that were there for a reason to leave. You don't want more movie posters than website designers/developers. If it were my forum, I would keep the General Chat:Chat about anything, but loose News, Sports, Games, Music, and Movies, just lump them all into General Chat.

Edit: I opened this window then went to the kitchen...it looks like Delvin beat me to the general discussion point.

True but who really actually makes a forum from scratch you just make litlle modifications and its about the organization...and I have done a few mods...but I know what you mean liam.

I think the loading slow part is only sometimes from the hosting I will be switching it...

    Thanks

Is it this one...http://www.zitrote.com/forum/...its pretty impresive that you can do that but I rather leave the building of the forum to people who specialize in it...I currently use PHPbb but i will be switching to vbulletin later...and I think even a person like you who knows how to build a forum from scratch would have trouble competing with all the features VBulletin has to offer...when it comes to forums its basically just little mods and organization everything else is just not worth really doing from scratch when there is people who have already done it and offer it for free...

Even DP is just a generic style of VBullletin but what makes it special is all the mods and the organization not to mention the tools...

    Good Job Liam :)

Anywayz I see that the two main issues that people are telling me is the color skim of red and green and the general discussion area, Right?

    For the general discussion area...
Im considering combining the Sports, Movies, Games, and Music into one forum called Entertainment, I want to keep the News section because it seems that my members are really international and I have hope that as the forum grows I can have good discussions about stuff that goes on all around the world, What do you think about the entertainment forum idea?

As for the color scheme I like it, but maybe when I switch to VBulletin Ill consider changing it...Can somebody tell me whats wrong with the colors, somebody tell me you like it :( I actually really loved this color scheme but it seems atleast a couple of you think its not so good can I get more opinions on this cause I just dont see it the way thos peopl say, the "Christmas Colors"...I dont know

    Thanks for comments
