Rather than make one myself, I would prefer a collaboration or many opinions to come up with some sort of algo to go on; to which I would gladly add and factor it in and also offer it as a results set along with everything else.
I think Rand --and SEMOZ has really been stunned by Jeff's post as I could check 6/7 sites at a stretch and I am not a Premium member Can anybody confirm it? It seems they have waived the restrictions
If its showing 0.5 PS - Then its not banned.. I think Seomoz should give some donation to Aviva for making PS popular and transferring a lot of Traffic..
Daily Limit Reached Due to bandwidth constraints, we are limiting the number of page strength requests to one report a day (per person). Why he should do it manually? PS takes account of lot of factors which are deprecated in ranking algo
Will be very happy to contribute, let me know the next steps. I will work on something during this weekend and will attempt to provide some algo. You can check, but you can't refresh the data.. hence seomoz is 100% accurate at 20% of the time Still getting this:
Well I am working on a complete tool that would be much better and reliable than Page Strength if all goes well I will begin beta testing next week.
thats fine. i've no objections to that. i just know my results are always reliable. no beta testing needed. my tool has been there since february of 07' so i know the results are sound. just know that this isn't some sort of race to me. ive asked for people to pull a group together and make an algo for it, months ago. with neogen starting the ball rolling, i'm sure this will encourage others to join in. This won't be anyone else's tool (like a base that bob mutch provides) this will be independently written from scratch.
Refreshed the report for ya http://www.seomoz.org/page-strength/www.avivadirectory.com 6.5 Edit as history reports show, he had 150 edu backlinks on 2005-02-16 back then it was 7.5 they went down to 130 on 2005-02-16 there for the downfall to 6.5
Well probably there are loot of different people working on their personal approach to PS, and this is good so that users can chose the one they like best. And the one that gets really popular can block access and start charging an outrageous sum of money monthly, and then the cycle starts again .
how give a sh*t Page Strength doesn't work anyway, you have all these other tools on the internet and you have to cry about the one at Seomoz?
the only thing I pay attention to with my sites are back links. I like to know the general page rank of the site but other then that, if there is traffic, I could care less I didn't use the seomoz tool much, maybe a dozen times total counting the 2 times I just used it now
I will come back with a prelim algo by this weekend.. need to collect some data before I start on this..
My objective is not to make something and charge for it. (note this post for future reference) I am a statistical whore. Ive been analyzing these statistics since I started messing with directories, and that puts me well into it for about roughly 14 months. Thing is, I can write these tools with ease(I'm guessing others can too, and know what they are doing). I just don't have much time. Those MOD copying guys have made me quite popular these days. ha! thanks to them there is no ps tool for now. Also, I am gearing up for something of my own soon.
Thanks to RandFish, Amit and myself --the coders are now having a serious & positive discussion on a tool that will serve not only directory owners -but the whole WWW world. We, who do not know a thing about coding are waiting for your tools. Best of luck to Pete(britishguy), ! Ask ! , NeoGen and ofcourse the one and only Rob. Waiting eagerly for ya guys --HURRY UP.
