Use online, instant link checking programs.
Most are paid, like the mystickcals one.
( even if my site goes down for 1 day (due to server problem or so), I can see his(chris's) mail the next day asking for "where's my link" on your site )

@stockpost.. Unfortunitaly theirs many clowns running around and you cant hold everyone responsible for a few wrong acts committed by clowns.

Usually anymore i buy only from those that i trust and have done dealings with... sure ill throw a few bucks over to the fishes to see who's who but thats another story

Nobody seems to mention a recent trend of those who ditch their paid directories and convert them into bid for position.

When I check the cached pages of these sites I often see featured and sponsored links which are obviously no longer listed.

 

wowzers let me not find out some clown cant afford 6 bucks for a new domain!
That would be an all time low and please post that persons site!

till so far, I didn't find any real scum.
but this site www.wh5.org seems down for a long time and I have a few featured links there and one sitewide link.

 

This is one example that got away from me alone. Almost $200

Well he wont catch me again and I am going to seek a refund, not sure how long my link was missing having been subscribing for a while.

 

Another URL i have been watching for a while (even before PR update) and I have even PM'ed Romow about this. Even Mystikmedia has a site here and our links nowhere to be found.

hey popotalk, i recently purchased the site Finditfred from simplexity. i didnt receive any sitewide payments for the month of may and thats the reason why i took it off. let me know how youd like to resolve this problem.

 

I maintain a spreadsheet with every paid directory I submit to, each site that I listed there, which category, and whether or not it is standard or featured listing and after reading this I am going back to every directory one by one and checking my links!
