Hi guys, I'd like your comments on the content and impression of my ebiz blog. I would like it to be a place where people benefit from my experiences doing ebiz. Also, would you please tell me what it would take for a blog to be useful to you as people like yourselves are my target audience. Thanks! http://nextebizguy.blogspot.com
Move to your own domain, design a unique template, post unique contents, and you'll get much more people interested in coming back.
1. Own Domain Just curious. Why would my own domain for the blog be better than blogspot? Is there a negative impression from blogger blogs? 2. Unique template Can do. 3. Unique content All the content I'm posting now is unique. I write it myself from my own experiences. Was that a general statement or did you find the content "canned" in some way? Thanks for the comments!
No I'm not saying your contents arent unique, just a general statement as you said. Your own domain makes you look more credible. As you said, you wanna attract readers like DP members. Which are mostly busy people who won't give blogspot stuffs a chance. And there are tons of blogspot horror stories out there like this one: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=44368
I made the switch from Blogger to WordPress on DreamHost specifically to get away from the Blogger problems regarding splogs. I feel a lot more professional with my own domain. I agree with the other posters in that having your own domain will go a long way to improve your credibility. A unique template will also help out. You can keep the same layout, but trying using a different header image and adjusting the colors. Also, limit the number of posts you have on the front page. Visitors usually will only scroll so far. Trying utilizing your archives page a bit more and moving some of those posts into the archives. This is heavily dependent on how often you update your site.
Well, I finally made the jump to my own domain and Wordpress blog. It took a few months to get comfortable with Wordpress on some other sites I run but it was a no-brainer. I would encourage others sitting on the fence to go for it. Wordpress and some creativity will serve you well.
Agree with Kniveswood, own [dot]com will owes attract more attention rather than [dot]blogspot especially working on biz blog. It gives ppl an impression of "proffesionalism" = )
