My Amazon Case Study/Journal - How I Plan to Earn a Good Monthly Income With Amazon

It seems that everyone is always making Clickbank journals on this forum, so I wanted to do something different.

I've been heavily involved in Clickbank since I started with IM last summer, but I think it's time for me to move onto other affiliate programs to broaden my income streams and Amazon is going to be my first new project.

I know a lot of people (including the mods) don't like actual journal threads here on the forum, so I've setup my own blog that I will be detailing my entire case study on. That way we can keep the forum clean of all the crap that goes on in journals.

I just wanted to make this quick post to inform all of you guys so that you can check it out if you want to. Here's the link: http://igetaffiliatemoney.info

It's a brand new site so there's not much on it yet, but I've just started at Day 1 of my journal so you all can follow from the beginning.

I go over my entire strategy and I'll be updating it regularly with my progress. I expect it to be a learning experience for myself and others since I've never actually tried to make money with Amazon, but I know it has a ton of potential.

If you have any feedback or comments, just drop them on the blog instead of here.

    Thanks for reading.

Not many think Amazon is worth enough to invest time and money. So it's nice to see few case studies or success stories.

    Keep the thread updated too.

Exactly. That's why I've decided to target Amazon.

If not many people are willing to do it, that just means less competition for me.

I will post quick updates here every once in a while, but I intend to keep most of it on my blog. Most "journal" threads turn into a big disaster because people come in here and start leaving stupid comments and what not. On a blog I can moderate all the comments though.

People are always chasing the "Quick Win" affilliate networks, new schemes and scams. I am sure a new "Make $$$ every day!" scheme is launched every hour.

However, it is those that focus on the tried and trusted brands like Amazon who make the real money. If you offer value and are not tempted by the get rich quick shortcuts, you will do well :)

Yeah I agree. I never was one to fall for all the hype and B.S surrounding most of the marketing methods.

I think Amazon has a lot more potential than people give it credit for so let's see how this works out.

I've done well with both clickbank and amazon. I've found that amazon is easier to "sell itself" than clickbank. People will always be buying physical products so I think there will be a good potential in Amazon for quite awhile.

Yep, and people trust Amazon way more than Clickbank.

Plus, there's so much opportunity for upsells or the person buying a completely different product than they originally planned to and you get commission on all of it.

Quick update for anyone following the case study on my blog:

I usually take Saturdays and Sundays off just in case you're wondering why I haven't posted anything the past couple days. I'll be getting back to it on Monday and will have a new update for you guys.

Hey guys, just wanted to update you all on my progress. I've been covering everything on my blog (you can get to it from my sig link) and I just wanted to let you all know that yesterday I finally made my first sales with Amazon.

Someone bought about $230 worth of items which made me like $10 in commission.

You can read more about it on my blog, but I wanted to update this post just in case anyone here is interested in following along.

Amazon definitely does work and I'm excited to continue on with them knowing it's only been a couple weeks and I already made some sales.

Cool, I have been following your blog and I left a comment there but not sure if you got it, I asked you a few questions so I will wait a few days and see if you reply.

Another question is do you mask your amazon affiliate links?

    Thanks

Hey, sorry I didn't see your comments. For some reason my Akismet spam blocker has been marking a lot of legitimate comments as spam so I'll have to go in there and look for it.

I'll respond to your comments soon. As far as the Amazon links, no I don't mask them. I figure people trust Amazon enough that they won't digress from clicking on a link thats from them.

To everyone else. I'll be posting another update soon. I've been busy working on some other projects as well and haven't had the time to update the blog.

Ok, I was just reading another post that says it helps you rank in google better if you do not have a lot of affiliate links on your website so they mask there links, but I have never tried it myself.

Here are the questions I asked on the blog just in case you cannot find my comment:

    1. Do you have trouble getting google traffic to your squidoo lenses, I rank high in yahoo for my keywords but only a few of my lenses get google traffic and they are not for affiliate purposes..

    2. Do you build a squidoo lense, hubpage and website for every product? Do you put affiliate links on the squidoo lense or are you just pointing them to your main domain from each of these places?

    3. Do you just use ezines for article submission or have you tried articlesbase also(if so what do you think of them)?

Thanks for any info you care to give.

Hmmm, yeah that I'm not 100% sure on that. I'll do a little research and see what people are saying. Do you have a link to the thread where you saw it?

To answer your questions in order:

    1. I don't really concern myself with how much traffic my Squidoo lenses get. I just use them for backlink purposes only.

    2. Yeah I build a Squidoo lens and Hubpage for every product. No I do not put affiliate links in them. I just point them to the product review on my own site and use them as backlinks.

    3. For this Amazon case study, I've been using Ezine Articles but only for the purpose of their strong backlink. I honestly hate EZA because they always decline my articles and give me BS reasons or no reason at all. If I'm doing a sole article marketing campaign though, I'll use Articles Base. I really love AB because they are way more lenient about what they accept and their approval times are quick. They also rank just as good as EZA does.

let me know if you need anything else.
