Low CTR

    Hi,

My site receives about 200 unique users a day, and so there is a potential for revenue from my site.

Adsense banners and rectangle are found all over the site. The problem is I receive only about .1% CTR, and it is constantly dropping. I have blended the ads as much as possible, put alot of content so the ads are relevant and tried to follow as many other optimization tips as possible. Yet there is no improvement.

Can anyone either give me a way to increase CTR or tell me why the CTR could be so low?

Ye I've tried the techniques in other posts. I searched for CTR on this forum and looked at relevant posts. Unfortuantely, none of them succeeded.

Dude if you want people to give you specific advice on YOUR specific site, you gotta give them the URl for them to visit and take a look at your layout so they can make educated suggestions. If you don't want to give out your URL, I don't know what people can tell you, except to just read the board.

Sorry, I wasn't sure if that would be considered advertising and therefore not allowed.

The site is located at http://absolute.x10hosting.com

How many of your visitors are foreign? If you are getting free hosting on a sub domain, you might need permission to run Google ads.

unfortunately, im too pov to buy hosting, and therefore I have hosting ads up the top. I can't remove this and don't want to place another banner up the top.

once i make some decent money off my site, so that I know its worth the investment, ill buy a domain and paid hosting.

Even though its free, my host allows my own ads as long as I leave their ads alone. Also, a good percentage of my visitors are foreign, maybe 30-60%.

You may want to move those ads higher, and blend the ads more. Another problem may be because foreign visitors might be less likely to click an ad, not sure about this though.

If your host is running Google ads on your page also, you need to contact Google for permission to run your ad on the same page.

    My thoughts:

    * Move the leaderboard above the fold.
    * For your content pages, merge the link and URL colour of your Google rectangle ads to the colour of your site content.
    * For pages containing more than one page of content, try placing one more rectangle unit.

Also, the navigation bar in the bottom of your site, is unreadable from here (way too small font-size). Is that intentional?

Also, noticed that you have picosearch installed. Why don't you try Adsense for search and put a Google search box?

since my navigational bar is written in DHTML and Javascript, it is search engine unfriendly. Therefore I have to put those links there so SEs can crawl my site.

SEs might consider such small text as spam.

I really think you need to do a re think you've obviously got a good basis for a site earning you some income as you already have 200 uniques per day and I can't find many incoming links.

You probably need to SEO it, promote it add lot's of regular content 2-3 articles per day and get a decent host.

If you are prepared to do the first lot I'll give you some decent hosting for free in return for a few sitewide links.

very good feedback. ill implement that adsense for search instead of picosearch, great idea. I've gotta think of something about the links. And about not many incoming links, that's probably because this site was only set up 2 weeks ago (still a lot of work to do).

but don't stop with the ideas now, there great!
