Quadrupled my CTR thanks to DP members.

Hiya DP'ers (what is the collective name for DP forum members?)

Big thanks to member "www.AmCy.org" and their site Student Credit Cards and the post in this thread

I made the change to my site, putting images above the ads, and my CTR has been 400% the average these last 2 days. This is not a spike, my CTR has been +- 25% for the last 2 months.

The changes I made:

The link units were always there, but by adding images above the leaderboard it has increased CTR, even though it is now below the fold.

I made this change on all pages of my site, moving the ads down and putting images above them.

To make it look nicer on some pages where I did have two leaderboards I now only have the one and CTR is still up.

Also the images are a select few taken from the gallery (where people draw pigs) and are random to stop it getting boring.

I can highly recomend doing this. Tho I think it is best at the bottom of the page as ads + images will take up the top 3rd of the fold and, well, think of the poor users scroll wheels...

...Content is still king

Thanks, Has been fun moving things around, watching how it changes the CTR, kinda like a game (which is why my WoW character has been sitting at lvl 40 for the past month). I like to treat all the sites I do as games, keeps me interested and on-track.

I am sure that moving the ad+image table to the top of the page above the "1" box would also increase CTR, but at the cost of putting ads over content and the user. Some changes are not worth doing, and this ad+image format might not be for all sites.

Awesome site!

How can people draw such detailed pigs with a mouse? Mine looked like it was done with a stick of butter.

Hi Critters,

Where can I see your site? It´s not in your profile and not in your sig (why not??)? I want to draw a pig.

Great post Critters. I just moved a four wide layout like that below the fold and CTR dropped like a ton of bricks. It will be interesting to see how four images above it might change CTR. Thanks.

Cool tip, personally I would be more inclined to clink on an ad displayed like that

If you do not want to draw the password to the gallery is "oink"

May try a 24 hour period with the ads above the fold, not 100% sure yet tho as I do not like how it looks.

I have been told it will be in this weekends Times Newspaper in the "the web this week" section.
