I'm already in the top 50k on alexa, however one of my sites is slowly decreasing in rating even though traffic has maintained if not increased. if anyone has any expertise in this field, please contact me AIM sn: "Loot" skype: "gmunch"
I have had a few website within the top 100,000 at Alexa for fresh traffic ranking. I currently have many websites that still rank very high at Alexa.com Getting fresh traffic a good rank at Alexa is not hard, but it does require a well thought out plan.
Since your traffic has maintained or increased, why do you take care of your Alexa ranking? Alexa is not a rating. It is just an approximate measure of your traffic. If Alexa ranking goes down while your traffic actually goes up, that means that Alexa shows wrong figures. This is not new. Alexa shows wrong traffic estimates for most sites (excepted maybe for the top ranked sites). This is because only a few people (mainly webmasters) use the Alexa bar so that Alexa collects data from a too small sample of people, not enough to be a real mirror of the whole internet community. If you want to increase your Alexa ranking, there are a lot of tricks: submit your sites to directories because most directory editors have the alexa bar, ask some of your friends to install the Alexa bar and visit your site, post message in webmaster forums (so that some webmasters will visit your site),... Those tricks may easily improve your Alexa ranking (for instance) from 4000000 to 200000! But, if you want to increase your real traffic, let drop those tricks, improve content of your site, make your site more attractive, get additional backlinks, work hard, …
well i am guessing that he wants to raise his alexa because he wants to sell his site. Alexa is NOT accurate that is not in the top 100000. I know this because i compare the alexa ranking for multiple sites that i own and its WAAAYY off.
As far as my observation goes, Alexa ranks greatly depend on the traffic coming from U.S and how consistent it remains over the days. A little drop here and there in them..and your rank begins to slide up! Regards, RightMan
i don't think alexa is the real measure of your site.. what you need to worry about is the revenue that you are generating... if it's growing then you should be happy.. and key to success is content and hard work...
Alexa Ranking is the measure of fresh traffic that a website receives. Alexa is only important to webmasters that receive a lot of fresh traffic everyday.
Hey, I posted something here on DP back in February pertaining to Alexa. Check it out, you might be interested: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=10784672#post10784672 Good Luck
it is so easy to manipulate alexa ranking. but the question is, why would you want to do that? alexa ranking doesn't really mean anything and not the true measure of traffic to a site anyways. but if you really want to increase the alexa ranking, then focus on increasing your traffic any way you can and your alexa ranking will get better
my alexa rank keeps going down rapidly, but my traffic is increasing tremendously. im guessing im getting more non-webmaster visitors...which is a good thing
