I started adsense about a month ago I was making around $5-6 for every 9-10 clicks from just two adsense ad unit. Then I got carried away thinking if I put more ads it would generate more revenue, I added 3 ad units, 1 link, and a google search. The next day I checked my stats I had 8 clicks and only made around $0.57, I left it for couple of days and the profit never exceeded a dollar! This got me thinking so I then switched back to two ad units and my clicks started making money again, any idea why? June 6th was when I added the extra ads, and it went downhill from there on.
Yes, infact it does. However without careful placement (because you'll have less,) you won't get as many clicks. I had 3 ads on a site based around home business and one click was about $0.20, after I removed 2 of them. Clicks rose to $0.50 continuously. Did the same with the key word of Forex trading. With one ad, I was getting constant $1 minimum clicks . http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=845570
it could be the case because: say your showing 3 google banners with 2 ads on each, thats 6 ads on a page. Those 6 ads arent all going to be paying the same amount (thats how google adwords work) so the people who are paying the highest will be on the 1st ads and then the less paying ones will show up. So if you only have 1 banner showing 2 ads your going to get the highest paying keywords on those ads. Someone correct me if im completly wrong like just my theory (but if its right go me!)
The first ads Google displays on your site (top, left column) are the highest paying ads. All others are lower paying ads. Link units pay the least. If you place a link unit at the top of your page, you'll make the least money. Put an ad unit there, and you'll make the most money.
I personally dont believe in the more ads less pay or less ads more pay thought, and the reason is because when your logged into adsense they even suggest that your not using adsense to its full potential if your only running say one ad on one of your sites. I couldn't see google encouraging you to use more ads then making your earning lower because of this, you would get fed up wouldn't you and just use less ads anyway.
The fewer the ads in one particular page, the higher the chances for you to get higher CPC. Consider this 2 things: 1) The ads is placed base on the most relevant according to your page content. 2) Advertisers (AdWords) pay and bid for good position for their targeted keywords. So lesser bid will get lower position. So if you have more ads space, you will not only get the most relevant ads, which most likely to be the highest paid ads, but the less paid and relevant ads too. My conclusion is, keep lesser ads space to let the higher paying ads appears more frequent. Higher paying ads, higher cut you'll get. Hope that helps, Cheers,
If you think about it, this can make sense. The more ads you display, then the more ways there are to exit the page. You are putting lower-paying ads alongside previously high-paying ads. This will reduce the amount that high paying ones get clicked.
It think that's a really good explanation. I was wondering about this exact thing myself, and I think you've come up with the best answer so far jimmy
I agree that the less ads the better quality of ad you get. Loads of ads get you ads paying one or two cents.
