We are looking to do some research on the best keywords for our Consumer Forum and would like to know what tools the members would recommend for the research please?
I recommend the Google Adwords Keyword Tool. It is the most popular and accurate one. However this tool will only give you the amount of monthly searches Google gets for that given keyword or key phrase.
first I will recommend google adwords keywords tool because it's most popular and accurate and you can also use http://www.webconfs.com/keyword-playground.php link for keywords research tool.
Till date I was using Google keyword tool and I have heard many of them saying that it is working and seems to be more accurate but recently I have optimized a web page for a particular keyword and it seems to appear at 1st page and may some time around 15 to 20 position and as per tool this keyword receives nearly 1600 pure hit per month but I have not received even a single hit for that keyword. Yes it is understandable that I am not at 1st position but atleast I expect a 4 to 5 hits. I can't find where I am going wrong.
Although Google Adwords keyword tool is great, you may like to try out other tools. Some of the other popular options include WebCEO, WordTracker, Keyword Spy and Keyword Discovery.

Plus you get a lot of other cool "modules" to work with. A very, very, very powerful tool indeed. Also, do not forget to watch all of their instructional videos before you dive into it seriously.
I have started a new thread here, and will post my experiences there, this thread wasn't meant to be specifically about that.
