I personally favor Drupal for most new Sites because I know it best and it has clean structured Code with good possibilitys to extend. The Community is also very supportive and strong. Drupal is also far more secure than Joomla and is very SEO-Friendly out of the Box. There are also many Books, Tutorials and Videos available to learn about it. And last but not least there are also a lot of modules (far over 1000) to choose from.

You can start very small with the Core-Installation (e.g. a blog) and add modules as you need and learn to use them. As you get used to the concepts and the whole System you add more modules and tweak your Theme or develop your own Modules and can go to a full blown Membership or eCommerce or what ever you want site.

Drupal is for me the most open and structured CMS on the market. Sure, there are some points to be better, but I think this points will be resolved in the near Future. On the other Hand you have all possibilities to tweak Drupal to the point you want to be. This is because Drupal is not only a CMS but also a Framework to build on.

If you start new with CMS then Drupal is a solid Base to do every kind of Website you want to do. It has sometimes a steep learning curve to get the concepts behind it. But if you get used to it you have a powerful Tool to build any kind of website you want.

they have their own strengths and weaknesses.. drupal is far powerful featurewise but it all depends on your needs.. you wouldnt need all drupal's features imho...

wordpress and cmssimple is more than enough for MY website needs..

i think there should be sticky regarding diff kinds of CMS systems as it has been asked numerous times.

I am working with WCMSs since 10 years now and I can tell you that you cannot compare CMS on functionalities anymore since all of them got more or less the same.
I prefer Drupal, because its clean, its light and its great to work with.

It depends by your programming skills [and by the reason you need to use the CMS ].However to make it clear, the CMS`s are like this:

    Beginner : Wordpress
    Medium : Joomla
    Advanced : Drupal

If you want to learn and you dont have the need to take it "live" soon, than go for Drupal. It will take you some time but it dose worth your time once you will understand it. [ php knowledge is a must to master Drupal ]

    best regards,

Third party Joomla themes are better than Drupal's themes, but we've used Drupal on dozens of projects and I think it provides more continuity than Joomla. Joomla's admin section, as some have suggested above, is hard to get around IMO.

I prefer Drupal. I tried to make one site using joomla but that was really bad idea. I can say that I hate joomla. And Drupal is simple and good for making sites. One reason why joomla is so popular is lots of extensions and designs for it. But if you can code choose Drupal.
