I've decided to start using adwords and i'd need some help.

i have a plan, but i'm not really sure i'm going to earn something from it.
i want to invest in adwords and earn through adsense.

my site is about "celebrities", actually a gossip one. it has alexa around 150k.
is it a good idea to start promoting the site through adwords?

i'm going to use $30 - $50 as a daily budget, but i don't know what CPC to set.

i don't understand this difference of CPC.. if it's $0.15 per click, do i receive quality traffic? and if i set it at $0.02 i'll get only stupid people?

and no matter the CPC, google is going to take all my daily budget and give me traffic, is this right? who cares the position i am while i get visitors?

please someone share if i'm right or wrong. I heard that you can burn $1k for nothing.. I'm afraid not to do this.

    Thanks guys!

I used adwords for a time but it cost a lot for no results. You have to have a very clever ad to overcome competition

You only pay if your campaign are clicked, hence the name PPC (pay per click).

Based on this question and your unwillingness to read, I'd strongly advise you to STAY AWAY FROM ADWORDS!

Good luck and welcome to DP! :D

Don't bother with adwords because you don't have enough knowledge to run your campaigns.

Just be careful - Adwords is fantastic for someone running a retail site but I am not too sure about a site reliant on adsense for income (if I have gathered that correctly).

The best advice I can give you is to keep your CPC low to start with and analyse it over a day or two.

    AND

Make all your serach terms and phrases exact, and open them up slowly and carefully.

    For example:

Paris Hilton will bring you more results than [Paris Hilton] ( [ ] denotes an 'exact search term') whereas without them they are open - so if someone searched for say: pink paris hilton your ad could come up - so just bear this one in mind... you may want this, but knowing is important.

Make your ads eye catching but for the right 'customer' - so if your site is all about celebs, then a nice catchy title like ' Read all about Madonna's Latest Look' is likely to get someone that you want whereas something more general will get someone just clicking on and off the page, and just costing you money for no return.

I love Adwords, I have to say... careful tweaking of the campaigns that you run can be very effective - just try to steer on the side of caution initially and you'll be fine.

I always say to someone before they start an ad campaign have 'X' amount available initially to throw at it and expect to lose most of that first bundle in experience and you won't be too disappointed - you know, like you say $30-$50 per day - so, lets say, set it at $30 a day and expect to get $30 back - if that just for 3 days... by which time you will be tweaking it and tailoring it better as you will be able to analyse it better.

If in complete doubt - start with 10 key phrases only and see what happens within 6 hours.

    Good luck with it.

    Faye x

Oh - another thing I meant to mention was that poeple searching for Paris Hilton will also return the hotel remember - so stick with your bruce springsteens and beyonce's - if that makes sense.

Read google adwords help to know how to run campaign. http://adwords.google.com/support/
One thing i want to say is google is now penalizing sites which do (over do) arbitrage. i mean buying traffic from adwords and sending on adsense pages.

You seem to have missed a very vital stage of the process - what are you doing to make money?

Once they click and get to your site - what then? - you pay to get them to your site - and then? How do you make money? are you selling something? offering a service? hoping they'll click on your adsense ads?
THAT'S how you lose money - you pay to get them to your site - and don't make any money from them being there!

finally someone got it.. that's right.. but if you don't take the risk, you cannot success.

and if you buy an ad somewhere else, you have the same problem [even more, they might not even come to your site]

so, if i have let's say $1000 - $1500 what's the best way to advertise the site, and earn money via adsense..

adwords seems not to be the best way.. if you were me, you'd take the risk and try adwords? or what else... that's the help i need, not "you're stupid stay home, die!!"

I've done seo, i've ranked the third place out of 200 million results, and all i got was nothing...

so it's better to invest money.

that helped me a lot, thanks a lot. i would have been lost without your advice. thankssss dude

if you are planning to get people to visit your site and earn money from adsense.. I have done that and its difficult. The most I got was break even but never in profit. It requires and lot of research and understanding Adwords so you get clicks for less and your site earns you something. Very difficult using the method you are trying.

CPC amount is very important for the adwords, higher the amount - better the clicks I think, try like that first, then when you see the results, decide on how to proceed next - even with lower CPC or with higher, but it is always like that with such adwords campaigns - higher the clicks price = better the traffic
