I saw the notice in my account this morning saying I could try out AdWords CPC Site Targeting. Here's the FAQ page it linked to, and here's the post where it was first announced. And here's the DP thread with some earlier discussion.
I assume this is still just for people approved to the beta test? I followed the instructions on the faq and it didn't let me set up a cpc, only a cpm still. Sure hope this is a quick beta if that's the case. Link to sign up for beta test says they aren't accepting anymore sites. Thought I would try to sign-up again... didn't work.
GFC - does it display your ad by taking up the entire ad unit, like cpm... or does it stick you along side the other, normal cpc ads that are displayed in an adgroup? Also, I know you are a big adwords editor user. I assume you can't do this through editor yet?
Boy I hope this is a short beta. I know exactly how I want to use it, but didn't get the invite. I sent a support email with a "beg"..... see if it does anything. Please keep us updated, because I think this will be extremely effective advertising.
Since I started targeting forums.digitalpoint.com I've seen 282 impressions with no clicks. My max cpc is $0.10 and the daily budget is $1.00. I'm bumping the daily budget today (X10) to see what impact that has on the number of impressions.
Have you figured out whether it takes up the entire ad space yet like cpm? Or have you not been able to see your ads yet personally on dp?
Just an update - I saw one of my ads on DP this morning in the 468x60 space in the upper left. It did not take up the whole ad space, it was one of two ads being shown (the right one) in that spot.
Since I started targeting DP @ .20 per click I've seen about 1,400 impressions (2 ad groups) with no clicks. I upped my min bid this morning and will see if I get more exposure. Going to target some more sites as well.
I hope Google does not publish CPC on site targeted campaigns. This would only drive prices waaay up and in my opinion this is not necessary. But Google never has enough...
Can you explain? I'm not sure I understand what you mean. You can bid as little as $0.01...bu your competing with the "regular" content ads and CPM campaigns so most of the time you wouldn't get much action.
