Hi guys, I have read this somewhere before, that its against google TOS to display images beside the ads. However I also read that it is okay to display images beside the ads as long as there is a border between the ads and the image to show that they are not related. I remember seeing an article on this written by google before but I can't seem to find it. Does anyone have the url to that article? Would like to hear from the rest on this. Thanks!
They're incredibly vague on this. However, in the original adsense blog post it said that simply putting a border between ad and image would not be enough to insure that the two do not appear related. My own solution has been to put a text caption in between the two. I haven't checked with them whether that covers it but I think it's an OK solution.
I see, parkaboy please send me a url of your site so that I can view an example of it. Thanks! What will happen if it somehow violates google TOS though its quite vague. Will google ban the account immediately or give a warning first?
I just asked google a question about this, I had 3 thumbnail pictures just above my ad block (336x280). They answered that my pictures were too close to the ads (I agree, they were only 50mm away!). So now should I just move them further away - say 1.5cm or should I put something in between as well as you guys suggest?
There was a popular thread here on DP dealing with this and explaining related increase in CTR - now I can't find it! What was it called again? If you know please post url. Thanks!
I too would like to know the answer to this - I thought I read in the TOS that you can have images next to google adverts as long as there is a gap - but what do they define as a gap?
I think google change their TOS over time. From what I last heard, even a border that separates ad images and ads isn't allowed anymore, seeking confirmation on this.
i did read that thread here before...of how it increases CTR, but then i think google has changed their TOS making it very clear that there should be a clear differentiation between the pictures and the google ads, so that the viewers dont feel that the ads are by google itself.
I have read somewhere that the minimum space between the images and ads is 100px. My recommendation will be to use this information and dont get in risk with borders or something, because you may think that your placement is ok, and your adsense account gets banned next week. If you are really unsure about your placement, the best answer would be to send the example to Google and ask them personnally.
Found it! But beware - MUST read last page of thread, as the thread started in 2005 and the first few pages are outdated (but are an interesting read) http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=17104 And here is the latest info according to the last page of that thread: http://adsense.blogspot.com/2006/12/ad-and-image-placement-policy.html So, my question now is: How far away to the pictures have to be? How far is 100px in cm?
it's not against the tos but adsense has some criterias before you this. read http://adsense.blogspot.com/2006/12/ad-and-image-placement-policy.html
