My biggest question is fairly simple. How do I get rid of the comment(0) underneath my postings?? i saw how you disable comments and so forth, but it sure would look nicer if i could get rid of that. i'm interested in creating niche sites and would like to make them look a bit more professional. my other question. i've been searching around and trying to figure it all out and am making some progress, but are there any nice people out there who would care to point me in the direction of some good articles for getting into niche website making, specifically though wordpress? it doesn't seem terribly complicated, just curious if there are any easy to miss tips for a beginner. thanks!
Why would you want to do that? Sometimes seeing the number of comments will encourage other people to comment. http://codex.wordpress.org/Main_Page is a good place to start off
thanks, that looks like quite a bit of good info. i'll start going through that. from most of the wordpress made sites i saw in the buy/sell site section of DP most had it so their comments weren't showing. i just thought it looked nicer. i wanted more of a website look than a blog look.
i've got another couple of questions. if i get a free blog from wordpress, there aren't any restrictions on monetizing it, are there? for instance, can i implement affiliate programs within my posts? im starting to think of a new direction for this. my other question. how do i green rep helpful people, and what do these actually do, just show that a person has a good reputation? sorry, im new. thanks everyone.
I'm assuming your free blog from wordpress means a wordpress.com subdomain blog. You have restrictions then. Running wordpress.org on your own server frees you from those restrictions. As for your other question, http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=173583
You cannot monetize a free wordpress blog beyond, 1 affiliate link, and/or 1 donation button. No adsense, no nothing. They will deactivate your account. Blogger don't care what the hell you do, and they welcome adsense on their free blogs, that's why the have them. As for the comments. I would leave them on also. The only way you can have a successful blog is to write your own original content. Just dropping a bunch of pre made articles on it will do nothing for you. Unique and relevant content will take you a long way. Word Press is the best blogging platform out there, you should take advantage of it's features and use it to create something nice. If you just want an MFA, with auto postings, and someone elses articles you won't make much money. And the web is increasingly becoming more content driven in the PR rankings,a and the publisher/advertising accounts. Go go for quality, and you should do well.
