I need some advice on my new directory project

I have been shying away from starting a bid directory because I didn't want to just be 1 of 1000's and follow the crowd.

But when phpld was offering some folks to test out v3.2 and recieve some customizations I thought of a little twist that might be kinda cool.

My directory will have 10 top categories and from within those categories feature links can be bid on. The top two bids from each category would be listed on the home page. I will also offer affordable regular listings on the sub-categories.

Any feedback is appreciated.

I assume only a featured link would appear on the homepage?

Thanks, I know it is not exactly ground-breaking but I thought it would give websites from other categories a chance to get home page exposure since most bid directories seem to have other bid directories and other directories only dominating the front page.

There are going to be cosmetic changes but feel free to add your links anytime. I will keep the starting bid low until at least the page rank udpate.

I will also be actively building links to the "top ten" page so the over-all top biders can benefit from that.

Yes, this could well be the future of bid directories as people would soon start looking for more value for their bids

 

It will only show the top 2 bids per category. So folks will have a choice with their feature bids, they can stay at or near the top of their chosen category or vie for the top spots on the home page.

I hope it goes well for you. I think the design will look pretty cool after you start getting some buyers.

 

Thanks David, the re-design (slight, as I really love this templates simplicity) is finished and I filled up the top links with my own sites at 1 point each.
