Today I got over 2100 impressions on a wallpaper site in google adsense and 0 ctr 0 ecp and 0 earnings. I have one 468x60 banner at the top and 2 728xXX text links on every page.
Yep. Wallpaper site can be like that. People are looking for pictures and they tend to skip over ads. Plus, AdSense often has difficulty placing relevant ads on pages with little text. Instead, you might try one of the CPM ad networks.
Try putting two 250x250 boxes down the left panel (as high as you can) and then one box the same size on the right side as high as you can. If this isn't possible put the biggest ads possible on the left as high as you can - preferable below some initial text but above the fold. JMO
