Proposal I received from adsense support
I received an email from adsense support offering to include a site in custom placement packs, provided that I add 300X250 rectangles to the site. This would involve a significant change in structure of the site, so here are my questions. Thanks in advance for any advice...

1) Is there a significant advantage to inclusion in the custom packs?

2) Is this a fairly standard email or should I consider this a privilege?

Here is the note:

Dear Publisher,

After a recent review of your site, we would like to include (sitename) in our custom placement packs program. Custom placement packs are selections of individually-reviewed sites designed for our largest brand advertisers.

We would like to feature your site more frequently in these advertiser packages, but to do so, we need you to place more image and text-enabled medium rectangle ad units (300x250) on your site. Visit https://www.google.com/adsense/adformats to see a sample of the medium rectangle unit.

lol, figures. I just received this e-mail today too, and searched digital point for keywords in the message. Ironically, I get your message, which was also today It sounds interesting that they contacted me...I think I'm going to try it out and emailing them back.

Perhaps it is a convenient ploy to attempt to get more AdSense Publishers to switch to a more effective ad strategy...I sent Google a message back, I'll let you guys know if I get a reply with further information.

Got it too and scared the shit out of me at first since all you hear from are people who get an email about their account has been disabled.
Not sure it will give more money and if it doesn't show up as $$$ I'll switch back. The 300x250 only have a few ads in them so they better pay more...
Hopefully we'll get more money now when the Search results have killed me (us)

I got that email today too. All i needed is switch from 336x280 to 300x250, and my ads are already above the fold. But they want image+text ads, i'm currently running only text ads. I got a feeling that image ads would be pretty crappy.

Hmm...dilemma...

hah, the "Add 300x250 AdSense units to your site" email just came into my inbox......

seems very generic, as I have a bunch of 300x250 ads on my site already.....

ditto on that.

funny thing was, I just changed some page formats and thought they singled me out for exceptional abilities, darn!
I like the photo ads and the video ones, they break things up a little. I always get a higher click rate but I think they pay poorly, .02 instead of .04, lol

Ha i just posted about this duh. I got one today too. Funny thing was it says to reply to the email if interested. When i replied i got a returned email. lol. Looks lik e when you hit reply it went to adsense-spport@google.com had to chagne spport to support and it went through. i change to the 300x250 and have been getting HR Block ads and this video ad. Seems like im up $10 already woot woot.
