I recently made a topic on this, but unfortunately the issue was not resolved, and now I'm getting a little worried. Click here for original topic. Basically, when I signed up for Paypal, I used my dad's name, Bill Fuller. My name is Taylor Fuller. I contacted Paypal like everyone suggested to change the name, but they replied and said something something along the lines of "Name changes can only be done to reflect typos or legal name changes. Transferring an account from one person to another is not permitted. I have no clue what to do, and I'm really nervous. I've worked hard at my blog, http://superbloggingtips.com, for many, MANY months trying to make money online. I cannot add a bank account or my debit card unless the names match. How do I convince them that I'm the same person I have been all along, and to change my name on my account? I know I was an idiot in the first place, but that doesn't help me now. Thank you.
Hmm just make a new paypal account.. that would fix this.. Also if your last names are the same then you can probably add a credit/debit card easily.
Yes, a person typically does not change his or her name and thus Paypal does not permit it unless it is a real typo or a legal name change. The only way now is to give up your current account and start a new one in your name. You are technically not allowed to share a personal or premier paypal account.
Gnet, I can't make a new account; I have a lot of money in my current account and I NEED that money. If I make a new account I can't send it the money from my current account, because I'm not allowed to send any money until I add a debit card or bank account - and I can't do THAT unless the names on both match. But I will keep trying, thanks. Eddy, Yes, I know - I'm not sharing an account, but when I joined I entered a first name different than my own. It has been my account and only mine solely throughout its whole life, but I suppose there isn't a way to prove that to Paypal. Like I said, I'm not too willing to lose all my money just to start a new account, so I will keep trying. Thanks for your help.
Hmm how about this.. first add your dad's cc to your current account to verify it and be able tos end some money.. Then make a new account to transfer all that cash!
Gnet, I thought about that but I'm not sure if it'd work. I'm pretty sure his name on his credit card is William, and I entered Bill when I signed up for Paypal (Bill is what he usually goes by, it's short for William). Also, if he has his own Paypal account with his credit card attached, I cannot use it on a different account can I? That would be breaking rules, I assume. Wow, I really did mess up when I signed up for Paypal. Thanks for all your help, I'm sure I'll get it straightened out somehow (I hope).
Gnet, Yeah I DID mess up pretty bad. I made the account without thinking things through and now I've accumulated all my money in it and can't do a thing. I guess calling Paypal will be what I have to do. Thanks.
why use a nickname to create an account, and that too a paypal account? would u ever do it for a bank account?
Anantk, Sorry, I don't quite understand what you're saying. Are you suggesting that I set up a bank account with the name that matches my Paypal account? Actually, if nothing else works, I might have to do that. And then afterwards I can set up a Paypal account with my real name and then switch my earnings. Thanks, I never thought about that. Wayne, United States, so yes. But I cannot add a bank account or credit card unless the names on both accounts match.
Actually it does not matter if you are not sharing your account, Paypal does not know that. I believe you read through the contract with paypal before you signed up for the account because one of the clause is that you need to provide accurate details. By not using your personal information means that you are deemed to be lying to Paypal. You could refund your customers their money then ask them to pay you to your new account. I am not sure that you have any options which are above-board. Incidentally, is your account limited ? If not, you should be able to 'spend' any existing money you have in your account.
i think you can send the money to someone you trust and close the account and open a new one and then bring the money back to your account. this is one way but the other option is you can change your name just by calling paypal i think and they will tell you whether you can change the name or not...
or if the account is already a business account, create a personal account. Send the money (i dont think personal accounts have fees). Then close the business account, and upgrade the personal account to business.
That's the key point with paypal cause if we could change then most of sticky paypal problems would be solved imagine that I can change the name of my banned account and use the name of my friend in the US he could get verified then that's it .... look if your paypal is working (I mean no limited access and those things...) then just create a new one a send money to it
You may get a debit card at www.payoneer.com. Make sure the name matches exactly the name identifying you Payupal account. That way you can get verified and cash out your funds. Good luck!
mm..... it's very difficult, but maybe you want to send the money/sell money to other e-currency, little by little and then you may send to your CC, from your e-currency account,(like for example...paypal to e-gold).
You know, it doesn't matter what the first name of the credit card holder is. You can change that as you'd like. But the last name has to be the same as the last name the account is registered on. So If your dad has several credit cards you just add one which isn't already attached to his paypal account, and problem solved.
Everyone who has told me to send the money to another account - that is exactly the problem and that is why I need to change my name. I cannot send money unless my account is verified, and I cannot verify my account with a credit card or bank account when the names don't match. That all leads back to the original problem. I do thank everyone for their help though, and I really appreciate it. I'm sure I'll get it all worked out in due time, and I've definitely learned my lesson. Emphi, that is good advice - I really appreciate it. Thanks. I do think I have some options now and I'll try them. Thank you for your help!
then the only last resort i see is Contact paypal. click here to contact PayPal by email. click here to contact PayPal by Phone. you know something? if you contact them by phone or by email, then i am sure they will chage the name of your account if the last name is same with your dad. i know it is possible to change the name of paypal account. just tell them you ask your dad to open a account for you because when the account was open, you did not know much about computers. so when your dad open the account, he open it on his name... also tell them now you want to virify your account with bank and CC to do your online business... and i guarantee you, they will change the name...
