Manish-- That thread wasn't very helpful.

I am also interested in learning about sitemaps, but I don't understand how to create them. What's an XML file? What should it look like? How do I make one? Etc. The information on Google's site wasn't very helpful to me.... too confusing.

You have to make separate sitemap for each subdomain. And add all subdomain sitemap in Google Webmaster Tool like main domain sitemap. And if you use HTML file for verification than you have to upload verification HTMl file in each subdomain not in domain root level.

It seem we manage the subdomain like 1 additional website.

The verification file eg: google123456789.html will be the same file for each subdomain if you use the same google account to monitor each sub domain.

I personally use two types of sitemap one in html for visitors and one xml for googlebot ect. http://www.xml-sitemaps.com/ is one free service.

If you have a main domain name with 10 subdomains then the sitemap for the main url would be

    http://www.digitalpoint.com/sitemap.xml
placed in the digitalpoint.com directory on your webhost

    And each subdomain in turn:

    http://www.subdomain1.digitalpoint.com/sitemap.xml
placed in the subdomain1.digitalpoint.com directory on your webhost

    http://www.subdomain2.digitalpoint.com/sitemap.xml
placed in the subdomain2.digitalpoint.com directory on your webhost

    Hope this helps

You must submit your sub domain again, or you couldn't do that.

try searching your query at sitemaps official site, also it is not a good seo technique to create a sitemap of diff sub-domains.
