First at all, you need a quality site, dmoz never accept crap site. Then submit your site to dmoz, they will review it (it might take quite long time), and wait for thier approval

Your website should be 100% legit..

Then just manually submit it ..

But it may take few months to get approved

I submit a site to DMOZ one year ago.But till now, it is still not listed there..so i think Sphinks is right.if you don't know the editor, you couldn't get approved easily.

Make you you have plenty of content, then read the add page. That is all there is to it!

Submit to the single best category, then simply forget about it! Seriously... move on, promote your page by bigger & better methods. Once you have submitted there is NOTHING more you can ever do, except make your site better & better.

Hmmm... What are you smoking? Are you saying that what I said was wrong in either post? If so, then what exactly should be done? What is the best method?

But then, care to explain how what I said in this thread and what I said in that one conflict?

Both seem pretty right to me.

Though you are correct... NOT submitting your site to the ODP is certainly another option and an option with about an equal wait time. An option that would make your work a lot easier, so I can see how you not want people to submit their sites... as that would be a bad thing for the directory *rolls eyes*

Either way, thank you so much for contributing to this thread. It's good to know that you are a caring editor that would rather point out that submitting to the best category then working on your site is NOT the best method for getting a listing. (once again no wonder you post Anonymously)

Well none of my site has got listed in dmoz . The only option you have is to submit in right category and wait ..No other option left.. But don't get panic.. there are many more directories that do approve your sites :)

Didn't you read the post above yours? Anonymously was nice enough to point out that submission is not the only option! So don't bother submitting, an editor said that was a better option at any rate! Just read the previous few posts in this very thread!

Promote your site by other methods, that's the best way for inclusion!

    CORRECTION
Anonymously was kind enough to point out that YOU believed that there were other things to be done. You are getting old and need that new pair of specs and less of the dope.

Lets look at what I said...
    Quote from this thread:
    Quote from my other thread:
You implied that my first post was a contradiction to my second, correct?

Read them again in context, you'll see that I am saying in both that it's pretty much submit & forget. However, in the second I did say that submission was optional. I guess that is the part you are talking about...

Care to explain to the masses how that matters in the slightest? You yourself say you don't use the suggestion pool very often, and that the the suggestions are an optional tool of the editor.

    So does it really matter?

I am sorry that I did not say in this thread that submission was optional, but of course, you certainly pointed that out here by saying that I was contradicting myself, and in so doing, you implied the exact same thing, as you certainly didn't add anything constructive to the thread.

Either way, in BOTH posts, I pointed out there is plenty to do to promote a site to get listed within the ODP, so, erm.... yeah.

And nice way to make it personal by implying that I am on dope. That is certainly an odd thing to say when you are an editor for christian categories. Says a lot about your religion doesn't it? I mean, NOT adding anything constructive to a thread in favor of personal attacks... is that what they teach you in church?

You must have your contact information clearly mentioned on your site along with privacy policy and site terms.

The first part about the contact info, that ONLY applies to regional.

As for the privacy policy, where on earth did you get that from? The ODP doesn't even have one! So why on earth would they make it so you need one? I think you are confusing the ODP with another site.

As Qryztufre said, a privacy policy is not required for a site to be listed in DMOZ.

Yes it does, it is on the Terms of Use page - http://www.dmoz.org/termsofuse.html
