How to leave a negative feedback for a forum user

I would like to leave a (-) negative feedback/score for a forum user who used my service and haven't made the payment.

Please refer http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1869984; the requester "etfoc" needed a template to be coded into html/css. I communicated through pm/email and we agreed on the rate. As he/ she needed it urgently I completed it within 2 hours and delivered. And thereafter he haven't made the payment. I have been sending emails/pms but he/she not responding.

I tried submitting a feedback score from "feedback" tab of his/ her profile. However i get an error message "deal url is invalid". :(

I just want to make sure my fellow designer/ developers using DP forum are informed and beware before having a business with "etfoc"

Please let me know if it is possible to leave -ve score/feedback and how.

    Thanks

Well the thing is him & you just arn't understanding the way the forum is. See he posted this offer in the CSS discussion section. That particular forum is for "DISCUSSIONS" of Css not deals. And that's why you cannot use the itrader feature using that url.

The itrader is only valid in the Buy, sell, and trader forum, and all of the child forums there. See both you shouldn't have been doing any deals in that forum.

On a 2nd note your topic here is wrong. This is a support question and should be Suggestions and feedback. This forum that you posted in here is the business section which is basically for talking about business in general.

There is slim to nothing you can do and for the future, never do ANYTHING until the payment is sent beforehand.

The only thing you can do is throw a negative reputation hit on him/her which is by going to his post and clicking the symbol at the bottom of his post that looks like a "Sherif badge".

Post exactly what happened in the thread :) It's pretty much the only thing you can do.

Thanks to making it clear that itrader is only valid in the Buy, sell, and trader forum. Now I know why can't i leave a feedback score.

Sorry, about posting it in the wrong section. However i had a tough time to locate the correct section, I had gone through couple of sections/ subsections to post it, when I was unable to find the correct section i thought "General Business" would be the "near to appropriate" section. Going further i will be having more closer look before posting a thread.

That was a stupid me, first time in 4 years of freelance I stroked a bad deal. I will be more careful hereafter.

A +rep for you for sure :) and -ve rep for the cheater.

    Thanks

Sorry, but when i try to give a -ve rep i see message in red "There is a "cost" of -1 reputation to you if you give negative rep."
    - does it mean there will be a 1 rep point deducted from me as well?

    Thanks

I just threw some rep your way, so you should be able to give out the negative rep without loosing the rep points you already had.

it's unfortunate to be the victim and get scammed - I just did as well, but you have to make sure to tell your story to let others know about these types of people and their business practices.

Thanks bk871, basscleff, deluxdon and all other DP members for your support and time to read this thread. I hope others DP members who are facing/faced the same situation would do the same.

    Cheers

I just did it. I feel good.

    - I've gone through this http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=173583, However I still dint get the logic/motive behind "why would I be slapped with 1 -ve rep when I give some one 1 -rep? (Is there any thread on this, can someone please share if known to you)
    - How would I check other User's rep from his/her profile?

    Thanks in advance.

Imagine if people can freely give neg reps to anyone? DP would be a place filled with infamous people!!! lol. The intention of giving someone a neg rep regardless of what he/she's done is already a negative act. So I think it is only fair that you should also receive a negative -1 rep for giving neg reps to someone as well.

You can't see them on profiles. You can only see people's reps just under their status that looks like a green blob. Basically the more green blobs means he/she is a reputable member. Gray reps are people who are in between (unknown quantity) and people with red reps are the naughty members.

I see, I get the point. However it hurts when a genuine user gets slapped for doing the correct however I feel if someone is genuine eventually will be receiving reps. so not much loss.

Thanks for sharing this info. :)

So theoretically, giving someone a positive rep shouldn't count as a positive act and you should receive a +1 for doing this? By the same logic you receive a -1 for negatives...:p

    @radiant_luv
Next time, make sure to perform a transacting deal via a thread in the BST forum only. For now, your best course of action is to let the world know about the cheater by posting all the details and subsequently, claiming for a refund via paypal - as other members suggested.

Well that's not the whole point. It is always based with the intention, obviously if you give someone a positive rep then you want someone to be recognised of what he/she's done. If you don't want to be slapped with a -1 then don't use the rep system. Simple.

You should report that thread and have it moved to the Buy Sell Trade section of DP. It is misplaced...
