Just contribute to the forum by making helpful and informative posts and rep should follow. The more active you are the better known you'll become and that will also help. Earn your rep honestly and avoid writing things like "rep appreciated" because it will undoubtedly result in you receiving negative rep instead.
The easiest way to get rep is to ask for it Whether you will get green or red is another issue Seriously speaking, do what Countryboy said. Posts that are solid, informative will get you rep. The same goes for certain funny ones.
Frankly I have observed the more the OP asked about reputation, the greater the chances of their rep blot turning red. Best just to be naturally, be a helpful and friendly member in the forum, the rep will come in naturally, the more you ask the more chances of members giving you negative rep instead.
Just to contribute to the forums, and the reps will come automatically based on the quality of your posts. Asking for rep's can is against the rules and can attract infractions.
As it was said before you must do some informative and helpful threads or posts and people will give you rep if they are interested, you should not ask for it
make quality posts. Basically, people will say "Thank you" by giving you a green rep point. But remember that people might be lazy to give a rep, even if you have filled their doubts.
but I'm sure you will get more red than green reps. the only way is posting useful information. Rep people if you think their posts are useful and dont care much about it. it takes time to get rep so just be patience.
I have never worried about reps. I don't even know how they work really. I come I post and people can take it or leave it. I don't even know how to check my reps. LOL.
