hi although i am getting around 30 visitor daily. The bounce rate is very high around 80%.Is it common.h can i reduce it? my website is 1 month old
maybe this will help you http://www.google.com/support/analytics/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=86131 or http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=871264
A high bounce rate is (usually) always bad, but 30 people a day is a low sample size. If you had 500 hits a day and a bounce rate that high, then there would be good reason for concern.
Use exitjunction.com They will put up an ad if someone uses the back button. Ive used them with great success and lowered my bounce rate. http://www.dollarsblog.com/exitjunction-review/
A high bounce rate is not necessarily bad, it just depends upon the type of site you have. One of my sites has a bounce rate over 80% and although it doesn't sound good, that's the industry norm. Check out the below page, I bet their bounce rate is 100% http://www.howmanypeopleareinspacerightnow.com/
80% bounce rate is too high... I wrote something about it at http://www.selaplana.com/2009/06/23/how-decrease-blogs-bounce-rate/
I would check and see where your traffic is coming from. Bounce rate is due to 2 things: content and traffic source. Your content might be great but your traffic is coming from a place that leads them to believe your site is different than it is. If your traffic is coming from a good source (for example people googling "tax help" and your site is meant to offer tax help) then it could be your content. Try and determine whether it's your content or traffic source that is causing the problem. You need to know what the problem is before you fix it
80% bounce rate is very high. It normally happen if you are in general niche or your major traffic source not from the search engine. Of course, your content is the major factor directly affect the bounce rate
we need to see your website before we can speculate about what is wrong with it.. it can be anything, from bad content to ugly designs..
Whether a bounce rate of 80% or not is bad depends on your site. Since you are worried about it though, I'm guessing you expect people to read more than one page on your site when they visit. Without seeing your site it's hard to offer tips on how you could improve it.
Problem designs, content or links could be the reason. Maybe your design is not attractive or not user friendly maybe your content is not interesting or maybe your becklinks is not relevant/targeted website.
You do know there are scripts that allow you to display an ad while someone is leaving. It can be a better tool then using the exit junction option. I'm using Expop.
