Hello, For 2 months i have a very high bounce rate ( 73.6% ) on one of my blogs ( blog.luxmail.ro ). I know that high bounce rate means that the website is horrible or the content is very poor but i don't think that is valid for me now. What should i do ? Thanks, Catanha
Bounce rate is when someone comes to your blog and leaves right away, this can happen due to poor content or website design. Are you using any so called "traffic increasing" programs or exchanges? These usually contribute to high bounce rates, also it could be other webmasters with link exchanges trying to mimic incoming traffic. What is the source of most of your traffic that is bouncing?
Thank you Sir for the reply ! I'm not using any "traffic increasing" programs or exchanges. My traffic sources: 29.37% Direct Traffic 23.63% Referring Sites 46.99% Search Engines
Organic traffic has 74.48% bounce rate and direct traffic 75.64%. The blog doesn't have duplicate content and i tried myself to optimize it. Any idea what can be the problem ?
What is some of the URLs the keywords are going too, let me review them. Include URLs with the keywords.
The keyword "cei mai buni antivirusi" is going to http://blog.luxmail.ro/antivirus/cei-mai-buni-antivirusi-in-2008.html - "stronghold crusader extreme" is going to http://blog.luxmail.ro/jocuri/stronghold-crusader-extreme-trailer.html - "iphone review" is going to http://blog.luxmail.ro/mobile/apple-iphone-review.html - "pes 2008" to http://blog.luxmail.ro/jocuri/review-pro-evolution-soccer-2008-sau-fifa-08-i.html All the searches are related with the content... thank you for the prompt response.
Well..u can find out urself.. well. example.. if someone is coming to your site searching for "What is Whey" but he is actually getting a post where "why" was misspelled as "Whey" so obviously he will not stay.. Its just example.. see your keywords and also landing page and then you can easily get why they are bouncing.. and if landing page is as per keyword then you surely have some lousy layout ! Goodluck!
It doesn't necessarily mean you have BAD content, people could just end up on a particular post or your homepage just to read one post and then leave. You could always try to include a "read more" link and additional links for people to check out and click so your bounce rate could be lower. And for a blog, 70% isn't THAT bad...
If you visited the website i have a read more link and related link, the majority of the keywords are related with the content. Also i don't think that i have a lousy layout ... i'm confused. LE: Before i had 50-60% bouncing rate.
If you have lot of traffic from social networking sites like stumbleupon or Digg you bound to have high bounce rate. Also I would suggest checking your traffic analysis which page has the highest exit rate. Its possible that some of your pages are throwing page not found; I have seen that before.
High bounce rate is a problem that most of the bloggers do have. I presume its because bloggers, like me, generally tend to provide our post links at whatever place possible. At times as the title is catchy, one or the other might click on that link and come to the blog even though he does not have the need to. And if we cant capture the interest of the reader, then they just ignore thinking that this kind of content and with more value can be obtained from a google search. Thats a loss for the blogger.
