Its sometimes better to get domains separate from hosting.
    Domains from Godaddy.
    Hosting from somewhere else.

Godaddy is good. You'll find coupon cdes for it which'll take $2 off the domain.
Also, its always best if the domain isn't attached to the hosting account. Get the hosting from somewhere else. Depends on where you intend to use it. BlueHost has a ridiculously low CPU usage limit.

    Errr,

With Godaddy, you get 1 free email account, 1 with ads hosting account and other stuff like blog installation etc.

If you register a domain with PDR, they have free whois protection on offer right now.

And in hosting, it depends on what kind of web-site you want to run.
If its a HTML or a small site, any shared hosting will do.
If its a big database driven site, than better go for clustered hosting and so on.

I would also recommend registering with godaddy or namecheap, and then buying hosting else ware.

I would also recommend getting a domain with godaddy or namecheap and stay far from HostGator because if your site takes up to much resources and cpu usage your account will be terminated without any notification.

I prefer Namecheap over godaddy, plus it offers Whoisguard for free. As for bluehost, it belongs to the category of massive overselling hosts. If you are going to use plain html for your pages you could be ok but if you intend to use php/mysql, then expect some downtime from day to day.

Hostgator used to be a great host in the past, build a a good reputation, but now there are so many other hosts that are much better.

Make a list, do some research about those hosts (google is your best friend and also webhostingtalk.com), pick a host and test it for a month. If you are happy continue with it.

If you give us more details about your site then i could suggest you a few hosts with 2-3+ years in hosting bussines and with good reputation.

hi laxmi. i having hosting with both hostgator and bluehost.
bluehost downtime is more. and for hostgator its stronger, as their server is at the planet data centre.

my blog sites and 5 other domains hosted with host gator is good.
    and uptime is great.

for powweb, i still reviewing them. havent convience me yet as well.
